new screen recommendations. 1280x1024 on my 19" crt is starting to annoy me

category: general [glöplog]
I got a BenQ G2400W (24", 1920x1200, TN panel) for a computer I built last year. First thing (after putting it together, installing vista, and all that good stuff), I watched Lifeforce. After using 15 inch laptops (and not-so-good GPUs) for about 2 years, i shat myself while watching it.

Whenever I go to parties, people always say they like my monitor. So far, no dead pixels. Ports are good (vga, dvi, hdmi), and can be set to stretch the image while preserving aspect.
i am all for high rez glossy screens. watching stuff on non glossy feels so outdated and boring. i like popping colors all over my face.

no pun... but i really like em glossy.

for resolution: 1920x1200 is great! lower than that is madness.

glossy is teh cancer. seriously.

Maybe. If you have a static screen. Oriented away from a window. In a room with a black wall. behind you. Or only indoors diffuse lighting. Else than that choose, non-reflective.

If you have a laptop. Forget glossy. It sucks. There is no need to argue. It will suck. Again. Just don't buy one. Thanks.

Glossy screen is like putting a second light source between you and the picture. It's just silly.

1600x1200 is a good resolution, too. I was considering a 2048x1152 screen as they seem to give you the most pixels for your money, but then the panels are all TN, which as it turns out means they're shit. With a little effort you could probably find a second-hand 30" 2560x1600 IPS screen for around €800.

i'm pretty sure I don't want TN panel mainly because of the offent awfull limitations in viewing angles

IPS seams to be a bit better in the imput lag front compaired to VA
