seriously, as much as i appreciate the great work you (Gargaj & Gloom) do for the demoscene community, you really should get that it is still a wild multikernel aggregate of different people from different backgrounds and nations (even Turkey and Japan :p), and the LegendgrafiX mofo is part of it, my stupid cracktros and latest wild too!

gargaj: maybe a workable compromise could be to sign zest up for "pr0nstahr" or "fakeuser" status? a little bit like maali, back when his testosterone was still going through the roof every other hour... the inmediate advantage of such a decision is that users can decide for themselves if they want to be exposed to zest's mumblings any longer, and the hope is ofcourse that because of the decrease in response he will experience due to his newfound status, zest may actually attempt to find a job or make his life worthwhile in some other manner. that may sound hopeless at first, but it apparently worked wonders for maali, so i'd say it's at least worth a shot. :-)

Well, the problem could be solved by leaving the oldschool bbs as it is, and having a moderated invite-only very-elite newschool bbs for all the 15 super-productive elite people who wants to have elite discussions on elite subjects? On the supah-elite pouet v2.0!

Bitfellas is a perfect platform as the more 'serious' version of pouet. Pouet has always been /p/ and always will be.

And for the reason why people turn into assholes on the internet, I have no idea, really. I think it's a combination of communication through written text and anonymity.

I think harshly moderating the pouet bbs will only make things more boring but not more efficient or informative.

kb_ : we don't need Pouet to turn into 4chan either though, I totally understand Gargaj's and Smash's point.

Gargaj unfortunately reacted on the wrong BSS topic but I'm sure he had in mind the previous hundreds of random pics posted by Zest in the middle of interesting discussions.

And yeah, call Smash the names you want and bring forth all the sarcasm you want with that elite talk but he's still one of the guys who bring us the most interesting prods every single year, unlike idiots posting random crap on the BBS on a regular basis.

Okkie : a slight moderation of the BBS would not hurt though (to prevent the really offensive pictures for example), something less rude than the Bitfellas moderation where you get a serious ban threat mail after writing "open a blog" to a guy on the oneliner :)

I talked about it with Garg, he's all but okay about that point. Nice to see that I'm not the only one thinking that a status or something like this should be given to some persons.

I'll say it again (for the Nth time): new threads should not end up on the frontpage until some criteria have been met. Like: X amount of replies (by someone else than the thread author). That will take away the attentionwhores.

The fact that the BBS doesn't have any categories is also something that contributes to the high amount of attentionwhore-noise.
