category: general [glöplog]
Last week I was at an boring nokia presentation where they spoke about their business. Suddenly the guy begun to talk about "demo or die". I mean: wtf?!

"not very readable" is an understatement, I must say.

And 'Demo or die' was stolen from 'Skate or die' anyway, so who cares.

You do realize that the word 'demo' has other meanings as well, right?

What Okkie said. Everyone knows that "demo" can mean multiple things - like normal demo or megademo. Sometimes people even refer to 64k intros as a 64k demo.

MIT students also say "demo or die." (Yes, it's on the google search as well)

Damn, putting a nosfe video into the middle of a powerpoint presentation is a work of genius! I'm stealing that idea right now.

Wasn't 'demo or die' coined during the student protest of the 60s?

That google search reveals some interesting gems: 1995ish vintage article about the demoscene.

Reasons why some steal.
1. for survival
1. sex
2. to impress friends
4. nothing else to do
5. inherited
6. sex
7. friends push you to do it
8. greed
8. really want what someone else have, but can only have it though stealing

In NOKIA's case I its 1 and 8 that makes them demo or die.

pohar: i wasn't being serious, i just searched for the slides but didn't find them and i didn't want to annoy the guy with a pointless mail ;) i was just sitting there and almost asleep when he mentioned "demo or die" and i was surprised until i was completly awake and realised that he was talking about demonstrations.
