They offer challenging listening opportunities and cover a whole range of fascinating topics to do with the English language, aspects of culture, learning tips, travel, and many more. And being enhanced podcasts, they provide pictures, additional information, and useful links.

v3nomsoup, is it with "Saarlänner" accent? :P
Saga: fortunately not, because I'm only responsible for the technical aspects, not for the speaking ;-)
it is the case actually that one of the hosts is a British native, and the other studied american english.

if it was with saarlänner accent it surely would be great comedy.

by the way, the audio is heavily distorted in some places. :P
Even as a native english speaker, i found it quite interesting, so i look forward to episode 2.

jumpseri: it's 5 minutes, so. ;)
Hey this is very cool! The first episode seemed to be more for people interested in German pseudo-English words than those interested in learning English though.

BTW I'd say that a beamer is predominantly a car in the states too (instead of a motorcycle).
Zim zimma who got the keys to my beama?
But I could be wrong.

thanks for your interest guys. :-)
we plan to release new episodes two times a months, on every 1. and 15.
which means that i'm proud to announce todays release of episode 2!
this episode deals once again with culture and cultural misunderstandings.
enjoy!

red: there exists also a podcast about bondage with the pretty same name on the net - ropecast (which has absolutely nothing to do with ours, of course ;)

Episode 3 is out now.

Quote:

It is well known that German (like many other languages) has borrowed words from English.
Less well known is the fact that words have also travelled in the opposite direction, with sometimes surprising results.

Go check it out. :-)

i *seriously* think that the global English used all over the world and the net should be reviewed once and for all, with all the imports from all other languages and even from business/entertainment/net jargons, to be finally named differently from just 'English' so that all the people can officially adopt it without any implicit submission to a foreign culture.

it would be like Esperanto, but based on English.

i would call it 'glish', like gobal -ish :)

Episode 4 is out!
This time you'll get to know all about mondegreens:

Quote:

Mondegreens are misheard song lyrics and they range from the amusing to the mind-boggling.
This RoPeCast manages to bring together Jimi Hendrix and Anneliese Braun.
After listening, you’ll want to start your own collection of mondegreens.

Hafe fun! :-)

A new episode is out!

Quote:

Do you know how many types of football there are in the world?
There may be no definitive answer, but we’ll deal with 3 major sports: American football, soccer and rugby football, taking in hockey and cricket along the way.

Check it out! :-)

Episode 6 is out! This time it's about sports:

Quote:

When people in many parts of the world speak of the “World Cup”, they are probably referring to the game of soccer, but rugby also has its World Cup, Six Nations’ Trophy, and other competitions.
So what exactly is this game that – to outsiders – looks as though there are no rules?

Check it out!

After we received feedback asking for longer RoPeCast episodes, we thought the forthcoming holidays were the right occasion for spending a little bit more time on listening to our show.

This time we present traditions and peculiarities of Christmas in the English speaking world. Tune in and learn how our guests from many different countries use to spend their Christmas holidays.

Merry Christmas!
