no screenshots from us, but I can tell you what "won't" be featured:

No shaders, particles, zbuffer use, 3D meshes (or anything 3D), blending of any sort, splines, image processing, vector animation, raycasting/raytracing, metaballs, plasma effects etc... fuck it, basically just a blank screen should be good enough on a 70sqm HD display.

a wholly 2d demo with nothing but sprites?

it will for sure contain some magic as usual, at least

So what you're saying is that you already won next year's Original Concept Scene.org award.

I know! You're making a wild demo just by switching the screen resolution on a CRT getting those funky noises! ;)

Navis : who knows, we might bring (not) cubes.

or not (cube).

ah, and no cubes. which reminds me: Arcs rendered with gl_lines. I've seen them in a couple of demos recently. They look like pubes. avoid.

Tetrahedrons ftw! Tetrahedrons are underused!

a combination of simple vector graphics and simple texturing. Oh and no typography either.

bonzaj: and are you guys bringing something as well, or what? :)

basically my rule of thumb is:

if the following groups come to a democompo you want to win, you are basically fucked almost no matter what you do:

plastic, moppi design (yeah yeah I know, but still...), portal process and fairlight (with a production that lasted more than a week). The common theme is very high quality graphics with content and shaders and all those things that look really good on the big screen.

navis: you've obviously forgotten to mention one group :-)
added on the 2008-03-06 10:24:49 by Zest Zest
No, this is the list. These are the groups which will always go for bullseye. No experimental, no "lets try this and screw placement" nonsense. Every single time it is full blast in your face.

If there is no oldskool effects in a demo, its quite worthless in my eyes :)

(unless it's on an oldskool platform)

navis: you missed 3 groups: yourselves (when you are in compowinner mode :)), farbrausch (but only when fiver2+gizmo are on the case), and tbl.
a lot of groups can make a decent demo, but those groups just know how to *win*. it's that extra touch, the bombasticness. knowing how to really sell the shit. i envy it actually. :)
added on the 2008-03-06 11:03:08 by smash smash
smash: ah yes. TBL. Ofcourse, how can you forget them.

The funny thing about farbrausch is that you don't know what to expect next. They are extremely versatile (maybe partly because they have more people to work on their productions), probably the most versatile of all groups out there. And that is what makes a legendary group.
