Breakpoint 2007

category: general [glöplog]
actually large-scale gimbap sounds like the best idea ever. Would actually mean synteesi would have to come next year to act as a cook too :-)

and to my knowledge the creperie had milkshakes.

If the orgo's have a proper cooling thingy then having cartons of milk for sale might be good for those who are not that lactose-intolerant.

One thing i dearly miss from the mekka/symposium days are the 'fresh sandwiches'.. those were bloody excellent in the mornings. Dunno if there would be a food provider who could make such (cold) things to eat too.

Also FYI most of the food at bp (while good and getting better each year) is insanely salty. I think it's probably ok for germans (we know you're fucked up that way), but for us northern folk its rather quite hardcore :-).. Wonder if some foodstand could sell something not-that-salty.. and the abovementioned sandwiches! (ok my only experiences were pizza, currywurst and kebab.. maybe the pasta stand had less salty food)

Oh and i probably forgot to mention:

Scamp and all the orgos: Thanks for a helluva excellent party again! you guys rock and rule!

uncle-x: we had over-proper cooling this year.
some of the bottles in our cooling van actually exploded as they froze :)
and we're definitely going to discuss additional drinks for next year, so thanks for all the ideas.

the currywurst had very little curry sauce this year, also the mayonnaise had a slightly creepy consistency... you could break your fries trying to scoop the mayo :) pizza could have been a bit hotter, but at least it wasn't half burned - half frozen like last year (or the year before, am not sure).

also, while i'm also annoyed of smoking, i have to say that the air-flow in the hall was a lot better this year, so really no big complaints there.

also, the weather was totally awesome!!!!!

thanks for the great party! one of the best parties i've been to...

about the food:

Quote:

The kebab/gyros stand has improved by using other meat (but still will be completely replaced with a MUCH better vendor next year as it was planned for this one) etc.

the kebap was looking very dubious indeed. but the garlic breads which were sold at the same stand rocked VERY much. i hope there will be something like that next year.

another suggestion: a sandwich/baguette booth! i think this could have quite some success.

as last year, the crèpe booth has been excellent (eventhough i had the feeling that the prices have risen quite much).

btw, would it be possible that the infodesk would sell some small snacks? like twix, bifi and stuff like that.this would be especially cool for early mornings - many people, me included, tend to wake up very early on demoparties (due to hangovers etc.), and since there is breakfast only from 9 or so, it is very awful to hang around for like 2 hours without any bit of food at all after getting awake.

at that point i kind of like the idea of subway being an official demoscene-sponsor. alas, that's only possible in my dreams.

FFS! .. just lost 10 minutes of posting cause of SQL error .. lovely ..

.. the short message was ..

Dont EVER make a happening like the one you did with the sleeping bags again. It sucked, it wasn't funny, the chance of destroying someones laptop or monitor was VERY BIG... Trenox sad on the corner in the end off the hall where a organizer stood placed, and his 24" was nearly hit a lot of times .. as was he ..

If something like that should ever be arranged again, PLEASE, move stuff like that outside, cause it sucked, wasn't funny and someone could get they gear smashed to pieces. (In fact, didn't someone get something unwanted in his laptop in the very first run?)

Stuff like "Who wants to be a sceneonaire" is FANTASTIC, brilliant and fun for everyone. If you cant come up with something better than this sleeping bag thingie .. dont do anything at all.

And getting people to hand in their sleeping bags by saying they were just going to be carried around... you knew that they could be ripped apart in worst case scenario... yes, you would pay for the damage, but its never fun to have something destroyed while being at the party (not even a sleeping bag, unless it REALLY sucks and your moms old vibrator is lying in it) ..

.. besides that .. best party ever - the cocktail bar ROCKED!

Not to mention that my sleepingbag ended up in that pile without me even knowing about it! (screw you, netpoet ;))

dwarf: Jup, that sleeping bag thingy become quite a lot more violent and speedy than netpoet had intended. I agree such action compos should be moved to the outside area next time.

btw, too bad the video versions of the amiga compos (and other videos) feature the compo announcement at their beginning :(
Why not serve Guinness at Breakpoint? You get a drink and a nourishing meal in one go. I probably would have survived on one piece of garlic bread per day if I'd been drinking Guinness:)

why have guinness when there's plenty of good german beer to be had. sure, guinness is ok but you can drink it practically anywhere now.

but what's really lacking form the drinking side at bp is ciders, and yeah, the coctail stand didn't have Bloody Mary on it's list, which was a huge disappointment on sunday morning when i wanted to cure my hangover with a trusty old Bloody Mary.

Germans treasure their pils? I kept to Kolsch mostly, I kept missing the beer runs of the RBBS.
