scene music stolen

category: music [glöplog]
as long as what I posted is maybe of help.. thats all I care about.. I was 80% sure it was a SidStation

maybe someone spotted it earlier. I had to watch videos of producers talking about how great they were ...zzzzz . So take pity on me and write some great new demos to cheer me up ;-)
@linde: Old story. Their keyboarder Stian Aarstad stole the music and the other guys didnt know about it, or so they say. Then again, Dimmu Borgir were almost as underground as the demoscene back in those days, so.. ;D
oh, ok

anyway, i'm looking at the proof videos on youtube. did anyone else notice how frustratingly stupid the comments are? gha, makes me want to sign up and flame their asses, but i can't arse myself

linde: I think the "putting proof of audio-ripping"-technique is still in it's infancy. :)

that sidstation matter is funny
I can program a pattern of the bassline of New Order/Confusion tune on my TB-303
pass the sound through guitar pedal Boss X-Torsion and it sounds 1:1
doens't make me the author of it :D

my 1337 music version of 1995 demo have much more work done than timbaland vs. tempest stuff
(also no profit whatsoever from it, just fun)

No one understands me... that was my way of saying I don't give a fuck of where people is from. In 1000 years there won't be "races"... it's a "it's only gay when the balls touch" kind of subject, but if it makes you happy humans will have a balanced skin pigmentation :P

Sorry if someone felt insulted or something...

oh and here's a gem from the something awful forums...

Quote:
I like the Timbaland version better. The one made by the demoscene dude sounds like someone hitting random keys on a synthesizer. It's not even close.

Good luck trying to prove it, though.

i hope it's some sort of intentional flamebait and that real people can't be that ignorant and stupid

also, this:

Quote:
Why is "writing music" necessarily "harder work" than sampling? A simple I IV V chord progression can be written in like 5 or 10 minutes whereas some sample based songs can take weeks or months to finish

if i were to join SA i'd be banned almost immediately for answering rudely to these posts.

it's also beyond me how even a big company with good lawyers could handle this. it's so obvious it's a ripoff...

gloom?
your kinda missing my point, I tried to make.. the sid station plays sids from .sid format
un-altered. I just found it amusing they had a sid station was blatently visable in the video out of all the studio equipment they could have on show.

we all know the some of the sidplay versions on pc, can mute any of the channels so i'm guessing the hardware unit probably also have that ability. I'm not writing this just to be argumentative.

They can delay the trial long enough for the little guy to run out of money.

Could someone enlighten me.. in case they haven't sampled the original straight, but played it through the SidStation, is the legal situation any different?

Preacher: That question sounds like "hmm... what's more illegal? a movie cam rip or dvd rip?" ;)

No, it doesn't make any difference.

or the other way round: If I play a Timbaland song through my mp3-player, cut the vocals and sing my own (yuck! ;) )?
They'd probably sue me for ripping if I'd sell the crap to anyone wanting to listen...

they'd probably sue you if you were just using it for your own amusement and they somehow found out.

grg mentioned the possibility of the recording sounding like it came from a player, not any actual hardware. then again, it wouldn't make much difference =)
