spanish scene

category: general [glöplog]
i prefer you know if from me before others:

portuguese posse has pwned the voting system @ euskal encounter 14. with namevoting! \o/ after the results were made public, our votes were disqualified. even so, we managed to get some prizes.

and some newbie ripped off a radix tune, entered it at the chiptune compo and got pwned by ps.

and we had chorizo and bread and the spanish were afraid of eating it.

and we played guitar by the fire (of the chorizo) and sang demoscene tunes.

scene is dead. long live the scene!

I've never seen a prime minister voting for the oposition, and he is the most important man in the country (exept in Soviet Russia). Namevoting sucks. Live with it.

namevoting is wrong
we shouldnt have done it regardless of the money problems
i wish competitions would just disapear from all parties

so why are you promoting competitions at inercia demoparty?
added on the 2006-07-28 15:11:56 by jeenio jeenio
couz im minority in the organization despite seemingly doing all the compo work.
we will have 6-7 jury awards prizes to compensate the public voting idiocy though.

you know as well as i do that compos are a main part of demoparties. i never heard you say in any inercia meeting that we should quit the compos.

having said that, i feel the urge to rethink my participation in the scene. no, it's not going to be a "i quit the scene" kind of thing, but maybe i should just stop entering my material in party compos.

anyway, besides mov, who cares?

i said it more then once. perhaps it was the meetings you didnt attend couz were living somewhere else.
i recall paula beeing pretty much the the only one to agree with me (couple others might have aswell.. gotta read the minutes of the meetings) and we deciding to have a half way term this year to see how it would go.
i find it strange you dont recall any of this since all meetings minutes were mailed to the mailing list. O_o

i wanted to abolish all compos since 2002 even!
i was always in minority, so we settled to try compo jury, then both public+compo jury voting. and given the lack of any better results, went back to public voting last year.

you should release at parties and ask them to show it on the bigscreen instead, i agree. thats what i do with most of my new releases nowdays aswell..

scene is dead. :)

no compos? why bother releasing in your party then?

trace: no compos != no bigscreen premiere

i'm sure that competitions is one of the main things why the scene is still alive.

apart from people like me are always trying to save it (meanwhile people like you keep fucking it ;))

trace our saviour!

yes, we are jodendo la escena because the escena deserves to be jodida. while i organize, present, perform at and release at parties, i also think there's some tweaks we could apply in order to breathe a bit better in this place.

but it's true that, then, other people might not feel confortable. oh, what a mess!

ps: the danger here is, you are saying you wanted "better results" and stop the "public voting idiocy" but what you are actually saying is you want results that match what you think they should be. and a lot of people wouldnt agree with those. :)

smash: considering that most of voting public is either friend/name biased and/or uneducated in the technical side of what they're voting on. i'd say it would give better overall results yes. and if people would think it's a dictatorship going on, well, they don't have to attend and participate in the event now do they? they can just release their prods outside the party, or at some other party.

i'm quite sick of all this shit actually.. i think im gonna quit the scene (again) after september when im done with inercia.

it seems that im just wasting my time re-debating useless things over and over again and arranging stuff for people who always just take it for granted and demand more.

i want my freedom to do new things back.

the important thing is imho the compo presentation, not the compo results. the results are just a little gimmick to get some money or funny shirt. or just have the nice feeling of having won - even if it doesn'T have to do anything with quality.
