Visiting Budapest

Hi,
I will be in Budapest on 3rd of August (Thursday) around 17.00 - 22.00 as I am waiting an airplane on my way , unfortunately not to Helsinki but to Greece.
Actually I will be in the airport waiting, but I think it would be a good idea to visit the city. Or is it ? what do you think. Is it easy to get downtown ? Do I need money other than Euros.
Will anyone be around there to meet up (and maybe show me around a bit) or you will all be having fun at asm.. :-(
Well at least on Friday I'll go swimming in the sea so it is not that bad..

Your timeframe is quite thight for a good visit. Getting to downtown and back isn't too difficult, however it takes around 40-60 minutes, depending on the traffic.
I suggest you to get a local scener to accompany you, especially if he/she has a car, then you can check several places.
And yes, you'll need some Hungarian forints, but you can change your euros almost everywhere. (At some places you can even pay with it, but I wouldn't recommend as they have terrible rates).
If you decide to discover it yourself, I suggest you to get a bunch of bus tickets, as controllers like to fine tourists, then get on bus no. 200 at the airport. Ride it till the end, then you can take the metro. With that you should go to "Ferenciek tere" or "Deák tér" (10 stops or so), and you are there.
