hi i'm richie www.RichieB.net
ive been into .mod tracking for 10 yrs using modplug
and also using truspace 3D modeller
but havent ever done an exe apart from using fliexe

my friend andrew had a motorbike accident and is paralysed from the neck down :o( so i am hoping to turn an eyecandy world i am creating in truspace into an interactive exe game for him using the gamepak/gamespace which caligari are advertising....
anyone used this?

i am quite creative/artistic but useless at coding so a user friendly product such as gamespace... hopefully will be the best for me

please reccomend if anyone knows a better one

greets to Comankh, Zambari, everyone at eyecandy,
what ever hapened to explizit? i collected all their mods!!

Richie

If you want to do videos.. there are 100s of tools out there, if you want to make demos, either get a demo tool (see dixan's link) or hook up with a coder.

thanx i'll look into that
i think gamespace by caligari is a demo tool or rather a Game creation tool
its machinima/eyecandy game worlds that i want to create see my intro in the intro section
or 'my land' at www.RichieB.net 2c what i'm doing
but i am intriged about what a demo tool is?
compared to a gamespace tool?

?
thanx again for the tip
i was thinking of using this?
http://www.caligari.com/Products/trueSpace/ts5/Plugins/Caligari/gamepak/default.asp?Cate=Caligari

?
i'll also have a play with the demo tools listed here if my brain doesnt start steaming out of my ears :o)
explizit died long ago. some folks (like kom'ah) have been releasing stuff on vinyl lately. and, actually i believe all explizit files are still available at scene.org (likewise with many old trackergroups. and even more at ftp.chscene.ch/pub/groups-foreign). worth checking out!

thanx for that
i'm hoping to find a demotool where i can import my models/scene so i can navigate around and play a .mod music file together at the same time
looking at spontz?
something like spontz, how long have you been here?
i like all the pouet logos everyone is doing :o)
i cant beleive just how many artists there are here!! amazing!! so whens the revolution?
richieb: I think you're missing a fair bit of what the demoscene is about here.. e.g. an "intro" should generally be an .exe file, 64kb or less in size. There are some useful sites to learn a little more about it, try http://tomaes.32x.de/text/faq.php for a start.

As to which demotool to use.. they all have their pros and cons, and they all support different formats. Main difference between demotools and 3d/game tools is that demotools are made for producing non-interactive stuff that runs in realtime (kindof like a 3d package that plays your stuff in realtime instead of rendering it to a video...)

thanx psonice
yes i know what a demo is ive been collecting them since windows 95....
ive also collected over 4000 .mods
:o)

i use demo's and tools in my machinima music video's
i use avi/wmv as my final format cos its instant stream and almost guaranteed to work on most pc's so everyone can see it...

thanks anyway for the link
i would like to make my scenes interactive
and self playing also though
maybe using dark basic together with caligari gamespace?
not sure?

honestly, richie, you very obviously do not know what it is you've been collecting. i urge you to read that site psonice posted.

d'r zijn wel verdacht veel engelse flapdrollen op pouet de laatste tijd, zouden soms "familie" zijn?... ;)

its ok skrebbel i know
i got an old 386 with a 9k modem and dos
visited a BBS, downloaded loadsa cricked bats cos i couldnt afford to buy any software :O)
then i learnt how to use stuff like photoshop and truespace, low and behold 5 yrs later in 1999 i got a job designing packaging for all the major chainstores!!!
LUVINIT!!!
i also have used various dos based mod trackers ...
my stepdad was a computer programmer and re-wrote elite from the specky for the AtariST and the QL.....he was the first person to invent hidden line removal for the ST....
i wasted years on a specky, no-one told me about the amiga, i wish i had had an amiga instead...

the only thing i dont know about demo's is how to make them/program them....i'm more the creative type and so used my new crickd modeller :o) instead

once i got that job i purchased licences for all the software and burnt my cricket bat in a big bond fire :o)
and the pink panther is no more

now i am legit under richieB.net
and i promise i will always turn a blind eye to any kids i see copying my stuff :O)
i think the demo scene is an amazing place for any young person to spend their time and a great hobby/scene to be into...

i have been out of it since i got the job in 99 and now i am back and have decided to try and learn how to make my own demo's and tools
i am researching to find out where to start the best place....so far i am considering learning dark basic to code my gamespace scenes....
?
or what is the best thing to learn?

least its freeware! and runs in windowz
so if someone offers to code for our project which bits do i do?
do i do the models? or what?
can someone calmly, nicely and throughly explain to richieb that intros and demos are .exe and wilds are videos, so he shouldnt submit videos as intros on pouet or the lobsters will get pissed and eat things out of bizarre places in your body you never quite aknowledged existing.

also that logo that okkie did a little while ago about looking for feedback on pouet.. yes, could someone please also paste it here, it might help.

and also, definition of what is a coder, with some links to demopaja and werkzeug in the end..

yes, thats about it. someone take care of that for me while i clean his submited mess? thanks!
