Breakpoint seminars announced

category: general [glöplog]
sound and graphics synthesis has roots waaaay beyond the demoscene :)
Quote:
chaos invented the rotozoomer?
we keep learning stuff.. O_o
STFU bitch and take some lessons in demoscene history:
Quote:
Actually, it is not simply "a" rotozoomer, it is the first rotozoomer *ever* (chaos invented it for this demo :)

This alone should be proof that this demo is a must see lesson in demoscene history :)
(Not a quote by Dipswitch!)

Besides that fuckings to scamp for spamming the BBS with his small party. :)
Bitchin' seminars, yes. And bitchin' ideas for next year (:
maden: i was actually beeing honest about learning new stuff, not beeing sarcastic.. i only started checking old amiga stuff last year, im not _that_ good in memorizing useless scene information :)

' reinvented' :)
"We present the state of the art in fast ray tracing (FART)".

I mean, seriously.

thom: Yeah, kinda. They are highly busy with CeBit, which takes places one week before breakpoint, right now, so we don't know for sure yet.

Also another, not yet disclosed sponsor is planning to do a cool seminar.

Stay tuned...

That SNES intro was released earlier than the WOC demo? *cough* .. kinda invalidates the claim of being first for the WOC demo.

rule #1: chaos did not invented rotozoomer
rule #2 chaos DID NOT invented rotozoomer
at least Razor 1991 did it one year before which was a major breaktrough on amiga ECS chipset
and Nintendo people even one year before Razor1911 thanks to c2p hardware on famicom

rasmus, that page is still online, still at www.theproduct.de, and it still says "fiver2 had the idea not to store the pixel data of the textures, but the commands that were needed to create them". i don't see where the text is claiming that we invented any of the stuff.

I may be wrong, but didn't the X68000 have "mode 7"-esque hardware capabilities? It was originally released in 1987.
ryg: i didn't mean to revive this discussion, i was merely signalling that the webpage was interpreted in that way (no matter what the authors had in mind while writing the texts).
well, to be honest, then you had to put 'imo' somwhere in the middle of your phrase :)
and wtf is razor 1991, eviL ? :)

radman1, the story how FR was born ain't too fancy (i think). i'd rather love to hear vesuri on how the jormas people gathered and some stories in the good old "last night we were raving at..." style :)

to be specific, WOC had the first full screen, full framerate, bitmap (not just chessboards or other polygons) roto-zoomer.. agreed?
