Adok: the "brains" required to understand EP's texts only apply to decrypting what he calls "english". As soon as you got through that, you'll find a totally incoherent rant that can easily be compressed to "mommy, dipswitch was sooooo mean to me".
Come on, you can't possibly read what's written on this site and agree to everything, including this collection of stolen images and totally random, meaningless "hey, i can draw boxes" art. On the other hand it's understandable - obviously he lacks the linguistic prowess to convey his "point" to his dear readers otherwise.
Anyway... this is no more a serious rebuttal to dipswitch's points as the Chewbacca Defense would be. TO put it short:
We have a guy who was in the "good ole" times a swapper. Yeah, let's elaborate on this - a swapper. One of those ppl whose dubious "participation" in the demo scene was distributing stuff from a to b (that kind of stuff the internet has taken over because you should never let a human do a machine's job anyway). If we tried to draw an analogy to the "real-world" art scene EP would be the equivalent of the truck driver delivering a bunch of paintings to a gallery.
Now this truck driver gets another job, then (a few years later) visits a gallery again and turns away from the there-shown artwork with disgust, having found out that the pieces there don't have anything to do with the stuff he used to load into his truck back then.
Oh, and then that guy submits an article to a "respected" art magazine, demanding that painters, sculptors and performance artists better damn please his personal taste, or they're all doomed! DOOOOOOOMED!
At this point one starts to wonder where this once-humble slave of our society draws all the, uh, competence to see all the things that everyone else in the still flourishing art scene failed to see for hundreds of years. Has everything really gone so wrong recently that a total overhaul, a revolution of all traditions and well-established standards is the only way to survive?
And after some careful consideration, the result is quite clear: Fuck no! This guy is talking total bullshit, and he fails to see the one easy thing: We do what we like to do and HOW we like to do it, and we're not responsible or obliged at all to suit his needs as a consumer. And that's what he is: A consumer. He never was part of either the creative part or the social by-part of the scene, and obviously lacks not only insight but even the ability to see something from the outside without it being colored by his own values and beliefs.
And this is what everyone else has long recognized and spoken out. Only that dipswitch did it in his own over-ambitioned way. That's all he's guilty of - stepping into the front row.
Dear Adok, as much as you want to believe that EP is some kind of revolutionary or messiah who finally presents the insights that this scene has long needed - that is not the case. Don't be blinded by the fact that he probably shares a wee bit of his points of view with you. This guy is a total moron, and he doesn't recognize one easy fact (which you also don't): The demoscene is a hobby. We neither intend to make big money of it, nor does any self-respecting demoscener considers himself a great artist. We simply have fun in our spare time.

kb: i don't think traders and swappers ever were on such a peripheria of the scene as you claim... because there were actually only a very few people who were swappers _only_. even muffler mailswapped - and that as late as 1997.
