Anyone looking for a musician ?

category: music [glöplog]

Just posting on the off chance someone is looking for a musician.. i've followed the scene since the amiga days.. always regretted not going to parties and getting involved somehow.

I've done 3D/Gfx/Coding and music most of my life. My brain doesn't seem to work much for coding/3d these days but im still decent with music i would say (and vid editing/art direction).. have literally thousands of unfinished tracks ;p I can create songs pretty fast. Not so used to trackers anymore and just use daws. not reason i couldn't get back into trackers tho. Do a lot of prods just stream mp3s these days ?

Anyways ..instead of just watching from a far for more years to come i thought i would dip my toe in to see if there is a bite.

cheers guys

I'm currently not in dire need for a musician, but maybe you should try posting it on wanted.scene.org as well?

Yes, demos on PC mostly use mp3s these days (or other streaming formats), while demos on other platforms typically use a platform specific tracking format.
64k and below on PC use synths like farbrauschs V2, oidos, 4klang, 64klang and the likes..

From my point of view, size-limited and oldskool is where the interesting stuff happens. If you can do good sounds for 4k or 64k intros, I think you'll find someone to work with. Create sounds that don't suck, mixes that are balanced, compositions that sound sensible, rhythms that groove.

Here's a good place to pitch Compofiller Studio: a quick way to get a Windows 4k prod done
http://www.kameli.net/compofillerstudio/

Make a song with 4klang (and the DAW of your choice like Ableton Live or Renoise), GLSL visuals like what's on GLSL Sandbox and Shadertoy, put them together and adjust. The Windows code framework, exe compression and minification and everything is provided for you, and it's pretty small and efficient, you just bring the content.

cheers guys.. all good info. themechanist - im not sure if i could do adlib stuff ..i remember the sound of it doing my head in all those years ago haha.

and yes i would love the idea of doing things restrictively (size limited/oldskool) ..il look into at the recommendations, get started and see where it takes me..watch this space :)
