1994: hey, people are uploading these .mod files to this BBS. I can download, like, whole songs here! Also, this Coldcut thing is really neat!
1995: is this that tracker program that those mod files are created with?? WOW!
Also 1995: SECOND REALITY IS BLOWING MY MIND OMG OMG OMG
1996-1998: lots and lots of crappy modules & attempted demo effects in Quickbasic
1999-2001: some actually good modules
December 20, 2001: this song I just released was the best I've ever done & I learned SO MUCH doing it! I'm gonna focus on school for a few months and then come back with a vengeance!
December 20, 2011: ffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu-
2012-2018: make up for lost time, compo releases, join a big group, etc.

reality404, meeting Lynn in real life is a serious achievement unlocked :)

Though now for my part :-)

1. 1991-1993. Meet up with CiH and other members of the Atari scene from Maggie Team, Cynix and other groups at a computer club meeting in Wellingborough, UK.

2. 1993. Get what was then the latest issue of Maggie (the Atari diskmag) from CiH, get VERY inspired and write a couple of articles, yep, one of which was censored but both appeared in Maggie diskmag issue 10.

3.1994-1996. Get involved with the Atari demoscene in a major way, enveloping real life, which in general was probably quite shitty at this point ...

4. 1995. Maggie Diskzine party organized by CiH, enabling me to meet other luminaries from the Atari scene, including members of Reservoir Gods.

5. 1996. Attend my first European demo party. Symposium 96 at Hittfeld, close to Hamburg, Germany. Went there with CiH and other guys from the UK Atari scene, met up with Sentry23, Slimer, Havoc and others there.

6. 1998. Attended the first ever Alternative Party in Turku, Finland. Met up with Setok, Wiztom, Viznut and others from some of the wider demoscene.

7. 1999. Went to the Error In Line #1 Atari demoparty which was held in Dresden, Germany - and what a serious fucking blast that was. Met pretty much most of the surviving European Atari demoscene members there and made friendships there which last to this day. Flew from London to Dresden via Frankfurt; though this would be the last time we flew to a demoparty, at least in Central Europe ....

8. 2000. Visited the first Sillyventure demoparty in Gdansk, Poland. Yep, it was a long drive but fucking worth it in the end. Friendships here were forged too, quite a few of those last to this current day :) Also visited Alternative Party 2, this time in Helsinki; rounding off the party experience with STNICCC 2000, held in The Netherlands.

9. 2001. We had a welcome return back to Dresden for Error in Line #2 during the Easter of that year.

10.2002. Went to Mekka 2002 demoparty at Fallingbostel, Germany. Unfortunately did not enjoy this party that much. Remember the release from a Hungarian demogroup going by the name of Crimson Jihad, who released a wildcompo entry at this party which was disqualified, probably due to the featuring of footage from the events of 9/11 in New York, which was VERY raw at that time, even for those of us who were not there at the time - although the official museum in NYC brings us back to the day itself, as though we were there ..... :(

11. 2003. Third and (so far) final Error in Line demoparty in Dresden, Germany. Great releases there from the Atari scene, a number of releases that remain classics to this day.

There may well be more in a future post :)

1. Getting a computer at age 6, being fascinated, wanting to learn more
2. Seeing my first demo in a recess at a computer programming course at age 7, big guys saying "this is a demo, it's not for little kids, go away"
3. Trying to find a copy of the 'megademo' through my mom's contacts, when writing the software list, dad from the other room saying "don't get that, it's only a demo version"
4. Still being fascinated by cracktros on the c64
5. Years later starting to be aware of the demoscene through magazines and cd attachments
6. Hearing a song from the demo I saw at age 7 in the TV, noting that "hey that's a real song", renewing the search for that original experience
7. At 17, while looking for a second reality download, stumbling onto ojuice.net and seeing for the first time that there's going to be a party before it happens
8. Creating the first demo and going to the first party, coming away with shame and determination
9. A year later winning the demo compo with a blue-red gimmick 3D demo
10. Discovering pouet
11. Attending M&S 2002, seeing fr-19 live, on the way home saying "I can write a tool"
12. Writing demotool until Flag 2002, winning the 64k compo with a crappy testrun
13. Rewriting demotool in c, finding people to work together with, founding Conspiracy in secret
14. Surprise 64k entry at Breakpoint 2003, winning the compo, beating Farbrausch
15. After 12-15 years going to pouet to try to find the original demo that set it all off, getting the correct answer in a manner of hours to find an obscure hungarian demo that's not even on pouet
16. Enjoy the company and inspiration of good friends for the next decade+
