fix me beautifull

gloom: Alas, I even have the feeling that my PAWT script has encouraged them to be dumber and dumber every day. It hides the symptoms but doesn't cure the plague.

I wonder if blocking temporary some IP addresses would be efficient.

p01: or.. how many new users are serious? for real..?
http://www.pouet.net/userlist.php?type=&platform=&order=age&page=294 &x=16&y=13

just erase the loosers and don't allow any more new registrations for a while, then begin to filter new users .. or something. just make it stop.. :)

trolling/annoyance has always been a hard to handle social problem. there is no real way around or through it:

- if you exclude lamers, you are lobbying and censoring. how can you define who is a lamer and who isnt, its always subjective, and even when its obvious for a great majority: its censorship will cause reactions and inflate the actual problem. causing more "law-breaking" actions and abnormal behaviour.

- if you dont exclude them, they just boil your head ot the limit where nothing makes sense and/or seems to matter anymore. causing more "law-breaking" actions and abnormal behaviour.

whatever crowd control measures you implement, there will always be some members who will be against them. solutions:
- lobbies with fixed rules. when an idiot who doesnt comprehend them enters the lobby, he gets pushed out by the majority.
- the zoo. law of the strongest and fittest troll prevails. zone open to heavy culture clashes which will make some people loose interest on the forum due to the overwhelming stupidity and disrespect by some of the other users.

at pouet we have the zoo. why? because we have enough lobbyis elsewhere. because scene should be family, because opinions should be voiced not repressed. because morons have the right to publically label themselfs as complete retards to the rest of the scene.

the question at hand is: would a pouet with lobbies be a better pouet? dont we over-intimidate newbies to post as it is?

i had this idea once to make some sort of website/bbs/forum where diferent sceners had access to diferent areas. some common some not. where sceners would be allowed to create subforums inside forums to discuss certain things with only certain other users. but then dont we already do that on our mailing lists and irc chatrooms? why would there be a need to have it all centralized on a site? would it have any actual hard strong use? would it be worth the developing effort? the immediate answer was no but the telluric currents keep pushing me to a possible yes.

Believe me, there are still enough. How about "fixing" some parties (set all compos and such stuff), you definitly have more clue than I when it comes to /|\ Atari. :)
finding broken links is so 2004, the real challenge is adding all releases from parties ;)

i've been fixing some party-stuff lately, but there's a couple of complications concerning categories. keops already knows about this, but i wanted to wait with mentioning it here until i'm sure that my proposed solutions would solve these problems once and for all. so please bear with me a little longer in this respect. :)

adding all releases would be a dream, but it's one i can't fulfill since i have no way of making falcon screenshots besides my digicam (and that sucks so much i just won't do it). so until then i'll stick with st/ste stuff, there's enough of that to be added anyway. ;)

you can always add them and let someone else do the screenshot.. i do that often with old dos demos that i dont want to endure witnessing beeing raped on dosbox

i'm not for repressing opinions or beliefs. i'm against blatant ignorant "funny" abuse. the problem is how to separate these on a technical and userfriendly level..

The 32k Game compo from MS '97 is currently split into a 32k game compo and a gamedev compo. So the 32k games currently in gamedev, which are this, this, this, this, and also this should be changed to be in the 32k compo.
In addition, this and this should be tagged as 32k, since they are only marked as games yet.

hm, more like a small suggestion, but ps.. since there's already the option to search for keywords within the bbs posts, is it also possible to have such a feature for the comments on prod?

like i can type 'ugly graphics' and see all my productions appear? just to have a corny example
Done my friend. But why haven't you mentioned the 64k->32k change for the cubic game? ;)
To make it short, this time I was faster by going to the party page and using the links there.
Maali: thx for the keywords, the search found 2 respectable prods at place 1 and 2. :)
MadenMann: damn missed that, and I thought that request already was complicated enough to cover it all :)

keops: uh, can't see the icons here. (firefox,win2k, properties dialog shows no filenames for the missing icons)

mizc: indeed, that's why I posted this message, to have the icons fixed ;)

Something else:
Does it belong here? It's a promotional demo made by Nintendo

"commercial" demo with broken url, I have the file since some months now but ... should I upload it or how could we handle the prod? ... Oh, Keops has already seen it. :)
keops: hmm either you're too smart for me or you just might want to consider talking in whole sentences instead. or maybe it does not even matter...

Anyway: Who the Hell added Nintendo as a Demogroup?
