is TheCreatorsProject’s “Box” a wild demo?
category: general [glöplog]
i found this one from PJ’s fb profile: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lX6JcybgDFo - can this one be considered a wild demo?
If it's made for a wild compo, then yes. Otherwise no
no, of course not. people do make cool stuff outside of the demoscene, you know.
it may have inspired a certain demoscene production for android, tho =)
a wild demo? what smash said and generally a "live" prod (or any non real-time generated form of art) is considered as "wild demo" when it's released by a self-proclamed "demo group" and/or released at a demoparty.
isn't it? :)
isn't it? :)
Someone should make a demo,. oh wait.
The answer to "can X be considered a wild demo" will be the same however many times you ask it. What's your *real* question here?
"should I add this to Pouet?" => no.
"should we try to persuade these people to release stuff on the demoscene?" => meh. You can if you want, but they're probably not interested.
"isn't it a bit odd that we label things as a 'wild demo' entirely on the basis of where they're presented, rather than what they actually *are*?" => yeah, I guess.
"if I make something like this and submit it to a wild compo, will people like it?" => HELL YES.
"should I add this to Pouet?" => no.

some people have great creative projects, that would fit more in other subcultures, and don't really know where to share the result except in the demoscene, so, as I see it, the wild demo is the place for those people willing to share with the demoscene their skills :)

They're probably not interested in the demoscene no.

what? are they bought with nvidia money?!?!?
Yeah, well, personally I feel that the best wild demo of 2014 was guardians of the galaxy by James Gunn / Marvel Enterprises.
Can the Wolverine movie be considered a wild demo as they had all the Wolverine sponsoring and dogtags to give away at Breakpoint 2009?!
sol: there's demoscene related content in Guardians. Pay close attention to the credits.
