FUSED - Win95 Demo for Assembly '97 Finland Helsinki NOTE: DOS VBE2.0 version will be released very soon. So one does not have to put up with wind that blows. :) Fused runs internally at 320x200x16bpp which will explain the chunk-o-rama(tm) experienced when viewing in high resolution modes. It should be noted that the fewer applications running concurrently the better the performance. The low resolution Direct Draw video modes seem to work on very few cards, but the 640x480 Direct draw and the GDI modes will have a 99.9% chance of running correctly.. tho that does not mean fast. If you use the GDI modes it is advisable to set you're display to a 16bpp color mode else you will experience poor frame rates. The demo is not exactly technically up to date.. the effects are rather old and easy, tho the aim was to create an oldschool techno track demo, the result is far from the initial aim... Windows95 is far from the idea platform, Fused uses no hardware acceleration(the screen blt might but not always) and as such performs quite poorly on anything below a P120. This is quite sad as I am willing to bet the dos port will run at atleast 30fps on a P100. I couldn't care less what other people might think about this... this is the future whether you like it or no(i hate it!) and as such there is little choice on the direction we are headed. Unless you wish use un-ortodox platforms, and live on $0.50ea instant noodles :). Well that's enough philosophical discussion, Raw Arts is basically a one production group.
