Today's the day, April the 13th 1994 (Wednesday) We've gone and done it again.. Or to be very specific, Maggie issue 14 is now 100% ready for release to the slavering jaws of an eager world.. (Whatever.) Inside, various attractions including an inside report from the ECTS in London, several articles from the 'In the Nick of Time Men' who are Richard Davey of the Falcon Owners Group and Leon O'Reilly respectively.. Various fits of insanity from the editor in chief, CIH, who also happens to be writing this at the moment (8.30pm).. And loads more.. Sitting close by is my trusty assistant and resident film critic Richard (Felice), and he is waiting for me to stop writing this drivel and let him get a copy of this issue as well.. Greetings are being kept for inside the mag, and you will no doubt find these if you are so greeted.. --That Enhanced Diskzine shell, the story so far-- At this point in time, there is a distinct possibility of TWO separate enhanced shell programs, the first of these is an adaption of the existing Delta Force shell, the second an entirely new program being written for the Falcon Owners Group, who have no use for it at present as they are a paper maggie.. Any orphan diskzine shells from them will be of course welcomed here.. No firm promises as yet, as we are as sick as anyone of the regime of non-existent vapourware that plagues the Atari scene so greatly, but if either of these two projects come to anything, the first beneficiary will be the long delayed compilation issue.. This is presently at a semi-finished stage with the current shell code and should be with us in one form or another soon.. --Next Issue-- Will probably be out late Summer/Early Autumn in order to give our fevered little brains a rest, and to catch the wave of all the new stuff that people are sure to produce in their long summer breaks from school or University.. This could change, of course, if we are flooded by hordes of articles from dead keen third party writers in the meantime.. Right, we've got about ten minutes before Richard totally loses his cool and wants to start copying, what can we do now.. Uuuuuummmmmmmm.. No, that's no good.. Aha, yes, a couple more things.. Firstly, this is the first issue of Maggie to go to release without a single ST game reviewed! This worrying state of affairs is entirely due to the post Christmas games famine where a couple of months between new releases is now the norm.. That is not to say there aren't still new games out there, and the next issue of Maggie should redress the balance.. Instead, there are Falcon, Lynx, a bit of Jaguar, and even a PC review, albeit a PC game due to land on the Jaguar soon.. The emphasis in this issue of Maggie has been on the word 'Atari' rather than 'ST', and so it must be for the future, as one single computer or machine just is not able to provide enough new material to review.. (Although Jaguar could change that back..) Secondly, it is our fourth anniversary issue... Who says persistence doesn't pay!! With that, I think it is time to go, having done enough damage to the good name of disk magazines once more.. Until next time.. (C) CIH + Maggie Team, April 13th 1994...
