   │▓  │  I guess this needs a bit of explanation, doesn't it.          │  ▓│

   │   │  Okay, so there's a couple of things at play here, but         │   │
   │░  │  it essentially boils down to the fact that this has           │  ░│
   │   │  been a missing piece from my scene history / career, and      │   │
   │   │  over the years it occupied part of my mind, where it kept     │   │
   │   │  a quiet but noticable presence, occasionally reminding me     │   │
   │   │  that my favorite demos are all on DOS and I never made a      │   │
   │   │  (proper) DOS demo, that I never learned how to program a      │   │
   │   │  GUS, that I never figured VESA or protected mode out,         │   │
   │   │  that there was still a separating line between what I         │   │
   │   │  wanted to be as a demoscener back then, and what the people   │   │
   │   │  I looked up to were. That sure, I had become successful,      │   │
   │   │  but I was still somehow Less Than.                            │   │
   │   │                                                                │   │
   │   │  Maybe that feeling still won't go away. But now I feel like   │   │
   │   │  I have gained an understanding of what the people writing     │   │
   │   │  those demos have gone through.                                │   │
   │   │                                                                │   │
   │   │  Maybe it was just something I needed to mature into.          │   │
   │   │  Back then it all seemed so complex, the low-level code,       │   │
   │   │  the busy visual design, the intricate music... In the era     │   │
   │   │  of multiple render targets and Reaktor, it almost seems       │   │
   │   │  quaint now. But at the time, it was The Unattainable.         │   │
   │   │  That's not to say I didn't try - naturally attempts were      │   │
   │   │  made and failed spectacularly (even the title "cöncept"       │   │
   │   │  is from that period!), but that's the lesson here, if         │   │
   │   │  there is one: Failure isn't always final.                     │   │
   │   │                                                                │   │
   │   │  Sometimes, the coming-of-age movie cliche is true:            │   │
   │   │  "You're just not ready yet."                                  │   │
   │   │                                                                │   │
   │   │  Sometimes it takes 20 years.                                  │   │
