Nice individual scenes and ideas, but felt quite rushed and incoherent. Still worth a thumb up.
Some nice scenes but don't fit together.
Energetic music. Nice flow.
the light saber scene felt out of place. but besides that: wow! very enjoyable with a great soundtrack.
i like the message and some of the scenes, but it did feel rushed.
Enjoyed it, entertaining and nicely paced. Some unfinished looking bits though, especially the light saber scene.
JUST DEMO IT.
Some words about it. This demo is a follow up to a seminar I hosted at ASM23. Submitted to the compo from the seminar stage at beginning of the seminar 8).
Made with Notch, as thats where I proudly work since the last 1.5years now. This time (compared to last year Asm demo from us), it has many effects actually coded by me (physical lens flare, daylight, geometry thingies etc). And on tooling side notch has gone forwards with improved timelining & curving through (where I've also put a lot of my past experience with adapt tools in). All of these are making Notch fun to make demos with.
And of this demo. It is very personal demo for me. Has a lot of references to the 25 years I've been entrying something for demo compos (1st time at Asm99), and of the big impact entries from other groups for me in this demo journey. Demo man running for the deadlines and chasing yourself when aiming for doing good demos.. concentrate, inner flame, zoom and so on 8).
And yes, it is rushed in the sense that the demo is a party week prod. Literally started with the music composition by humanoid one week ago on Saturday. Then, the timeline is composed in three days - during this assembly party week. Half of the scenes were done from scratch during these 3 days, and other half is based on test scenes I've sketched during the year. Interesting add to the equation are two under 3y old (human) babies we have in the house now, taking the making of demos at last minutes experience to next level :).
To conclude, the message is to not hesitate but: JUST DEMO IT! <3

adapt, doing what it does best... making an incoherent mess. as said, interesting looking individual scenes are there, but that doesn't result in a good demo if you throw them all in a tumble-dryer :P

Stuff happening for no reason, but it was entertaining anyway! Great zooming fields effect!
It is based on the great narrative idea of showing you the what you need to do in order to make a demo. As such, it doesn't matter that is seems to be disconnected because there is an overarching connection to the elements (Demo man). It was made in a very short amount of time (Extremely short I would say). Adapt always captures the attention of the audience and that shows in their consistency with the rankings. Maybe it is because the vibe is always "traditional demo", that is, technically complex effects - bombastic music - saturated colors - straight and to the point.
I admire the demo-making spirit, but it feels rather.. well, what uncle-x said, again. Notch being Notch, some parts ran great, other parts were a slideshow, but nothing seemed overly complex. The rapid zoom is fun but you've already done it a couple times.
too messy for me
good effort for a demo made in a week. some scenes felt a bit unpolished/force fit into the demo (like the robot with lightsaber scene), but overall solid.
Great music and visuals, especially when you know that the whoole demo was put together in a really short time =) Just Demo It. We need more!
