Great demo with expertly crafted visuals, well done.

Personally I like it best when C64 (and Vic 20) demos run on stock hardware, so I hope that 512k REU doesn't become the new standard.

Nice demo with great music but the 512k requirement spoils it quite a bit for me. Shouldn't all this be possible on a standard C64? This is a genuine question and no flaming as I'd really like to know what the 512k are used for.

Really nice demo. Love the flow, the graphics and the smooth effects.

@Stingray: It's not the extra ram that is the reason they used a REU, but rather the fast memory transfering (DMA) that can be done by using the REU controller.

Seeing that this demo was competing in an Oldschool compo at a PC party and not a C64 compo it could potentially be competing against Amiga demos (OCS/ECS) which more often than not use memory expansions (most Amiga 500 demos require 1mb+). So I don't see the fuzz about using the same advantage on the 64 in that case. Although I also prefer C64 demos to not require REU's.

Edit: I see now that the oldschool compo was for all Amigas (and Atari etc.). That could mean 68060@50mhz with 32mb.

I'm with StingRay (just this once ;-).
I simply adore the graphics and respect the huge amount of effort that has apparently gone into this demo and that scroller in the screenshot is just plain awesome, but i would have enjoyed it even more - much like Mermaid - if this was running on a stock C64.

Noone on csdb did yet, even when Firehawk mentioned it (we will add more info later)

And today, everyone can see this so if its standard stock or non stock, it doesn´t matter im my opinion. It was almost 10 months of hard work inbetween real life, and were proud of this demo.

I belive this is a first, havent seen anything using the DMA like this before. Having ekstra memory was a bonus. Just download the source from csdb and look for yourself :)

BHF, iirc there was a small demo 10-11 years ago from TMR/Cosine that used the DMA, but it's nowhere near as massive as this one.

Today, everyone can see this in an emulator or on youtube, yes. Not everyone can see it on their actual C64 though, that was my point. It's still a great demo (and I said so both on CSDb and here). I'm not trying to put you or the demo down, just expressing a highly personal opinion.

It was really nice to watch, the only thing that annoys me is that I did not see that it was running on expended C64 on the compo intro page.

(In all fairness it seems to me that this should have been advertised in an obvious way, if only because as far as people were concerned they were comparing two C64 demos running on identical platforms.)
