Keito's music is what really makes this production come together - the tune is fresh, uptempo and gives you a positive frame of mind. I like the motion blur also. Though this outstays its welcome a bit towards the end and could have been cut shorter, it still gets a thumb up from me. Nice.

Slick design!

Only problem for me: The music doesn't quite fit it - too soft - it should be more "edgier", more industrial maybe.

This probably has to do with the 'mad fun at the party'-factor that both second and first place had, it's an Outline thing, I guess.

But cheers lads! Thanks for releasing at Outline! And it's a great invite.

Nice to see such and efficient prod released at Outline. But yep, that's not exactly the kind of prods this audience is after. Hence the 3rd place.

Neat, but yeah - a bit too long. Also: a bit hard to read the text? (which is quite bad, considering that this IS an invitation)
But ok, all in all a rather huge piggy.
it's a nice one but nothing special and slighly repetitive.. i'm surprised there are no "could have been done in 64k" comments.. maybe everyone wants to be nice at these guys..

Wow! In the midst of textmode demos, 1-256byte intros, retro-scrollers and line demos, it's such a breath of fresh air to see a demo that actually looks "next gen"!

The whole thing looks and sounds so professional, in a league above the usual scene standards.
rulez added on the 2008-05-06 09:27:58 by Wade Wade
What pleases me, besides the cool motionblur-scene where the shells of the evil sphere is spinning, is that a "fast" release like this isn't slaughtered. It would be much more fun for everyone if groups started releasing more, and neccessarily shorter, demos.

sucks added on the 2008-05-06 11:10:52 by sang-soo sang-soo
Basically what Hyde said. We're in this scene for doing stuff, and this little gem excels at exactly this point.

Still yeah, one minute less and a more.. defined soundtrack wouldn't have hurt, but then on the other hand that music so reminded me of early 90s "Amiga Techno" I had to smile. :)

It didn't work on my nVidia GeForce FX 5200 so I just watched the video. The sphere effect and metallic visual are pretty cool but it's quite repetitive considering its size (nearly 20 MB) and I didn't really like the music. But waiting for the sphere to open is pretty cool and its ambiance reminded me of films like Cube and Event Horizon.

I fully support Hyde's view. And this production was desperately needed for its freshness in a usually quiet period. Secondly it's very exciting to see Smash and Navis collaborate on a production. And I love the humour of the nfo file.

Only watched the video - but this has such a sinister feel to it. Matrix meets Event Horizon at 100mph... The music really got my knees going under the table.. :)

A short, enjoyable blast of energy!

visually getting tedious quickly for being a one trick pony all the way through.
the music ain't particularly "bad" but it still made me hit that mute button when the pitched-up vocal became triggered in heavy rotation with a straight offbeat bass that was just too prominent to stand. probably a pretty personal antipathy.
bottom line is: cancelled and deleted.

Cock! This looks just my cup of tea and I'm nowhere near a box that will run it. All I have is youtube on a phone over a slow network. Still thumb up hard for the 49 seconds I managed to see, especially the tune which is nothing like I expected but rocks hard. Mp3? :)

I watched this in 1080p yesterday and somehow this looked very very slick and smooth. Does this use HDR lighting? I can never really tell unless I see 'with HDR/without HDR' comparisons. Or maybe it's the motion blur that makes it so slick? I dunno, there is something unreal about the image quality.

I'm sorry paniq, but your motion blur doesn't even come close to this one. :P

Do you believe that? Smash aka Matt Swoboda sent a notice to YouTube, which caused a account warning and threat to shut down my account, because I was infringing on his copyright.

I used 12 seconds in one and 45 seconds of the demo in two short 5 min videos of mine as backdrop for a little intro to the actual video footage, which has nothing to do with all this.

First of all, an email to ME would have done the trip as well, if he can not bear seeing a few seconds of the video recording of his demo anywhere else.

Second: Since when behave demosceners like this?

and Third: smash used to be a member of Razor 1911 and so did I.. hey team mate... how quickly did you forget about the "team" and the "mate" part?!

p.s. my videos were amateurish with a semi-professional background, but non-commercial use. In other words: I spent time on them and didn't receive a penny for it myself.

Cheers!
Carsten aka Roy/SAC/Razor 1911/TRSI/Faith/Dytec/Dynasty/Genesis and a few other groups... more details...

Roy[SAC] weather you think asking permission or not to take our work and edit ontop of it for your non-proffit video was fair or not, i believe the least you could have done was atleast CREDIT us...

Concerning your own work on your website of roysac.com you say :

Quote:
However, I would appreciate, if you would give credits where credits are due. A link to this site, a "thank you" email, a donation or anything else to show your gratetude would be appreciated as well.

Why did you not apply that philosophy to us when you ripped our work ?

And IMO it's just good form and courtesy to send an email to us to say something like "thanks for the demo would you mind if i used a small portion of it for a small video i'm making" ... The owness was on YOU to contact US, not the other way around, and your reply here has just been plain rude and ignorant imo.

added on the 2009-06-05 19:05:54 by keito keito
Funny that Roy managed to find this link now, but didn't when he was looking for who to credit, or the email address he needed to contact the authors.
Oh wait, he never tried.

I emailed him politely via his official site and got an auto confirmation email from there that it had been delivered. The fact i got no response for a while led me to assume he wasnt going to reply - so i contacted youtube. Im afraid stealing 45 seconds of a video, without credit and with modifications and claiming its yours is a pretty clear copyright violation in my book.

Let me send those questions back to roy, though. when it comes to ripping off peoples work, uncredited, without contact, and making a mess of it (adding a few ugly fx and text on top) - since when did demosceners or team mates behave like that?

Hey, no comment, what gives? I thought this looked absolutely excellent back in 2008, and in fact it still does. Goes to show how much just "simple" motion blur adds :). The lighting is great too. Sure the simple geometry helps, but still the tonalities are just sooo well controlled. Never liked the track that much thoug (certainly sounds like made in one night), but the synchronization at least works. Overall perfectly demoish.

just a drunken fucked up addendum: i was asked 2 days before this god awful soundtrack came out of my bedroom to "make something CHEESY" so i went with cheesy as briefed, some shirty samples, no modulation, no dynamic scales, boring repetitive composition, but something that if you double dropped two purple doves you wouldn't give a toss and dance anyway.

in hindsight, i wish i was given both more time, and a better brief :)
