Video version is in progress and, as usual, the Windows port also! Be patient!

I love the rendering of the sphere with tentacles of the death. I want to see it again!

some scenes were nice, but overall just felt like a rushed effort.

I quite liked it. But the demo not waiting for vsync ruins about everything, flickering tear-lines all thru the demo. Also, the framerate drops quite badly even on 2.2GHz Core2Duo with GF8600.

Titles showed up simply as a blue rectangle... what gives? Didn't think it was as good as their other demos. Fairly nice tune, though, and some nice looking effects. Pigg'd.

my pc won't run this.
quimicefaaaaaaaaaaaaa! derrame!!!!
interesting color scheme. when will you support widescreen? this will certainly not run at all on any mac that has a 4:3 aspect.
added on the 2007-10-16 01:38:53 by dodke dodke
evil, dodke: you can edit the data/pool/graphics.spo file and set your screen configuration there. Varying some settings will definitely speed up the demo and fit other screens

We are working on a mac config dialog and investigating how to get rid of the vsync effect

nice too see a new demo for OSX - even the quality of this production is not very high

4:3? What's that? ;)

Wow, what a strange demo. The colourscheme, the effects.. even though it's a bit of "wtf?" in parts (especially due to the colours), it's still a cool demo. Especially the last scene.

Merlucin: Cool that you will try to fix this :) Here's a link to an article that describes how to enable vsync in open-gl on os x:

I like it and the "chilled out" atmosphere it broadcasts.
But it lacks variation a bit - There's unfortunately not much besides floating shining spheroid objects and a 3D font ...

i so LOVE these fuzzy objects! wish the whole demo would have been about them. the greetings were a bit overdone for my taste. i also don't quite get the starwars like logo and the odd name. i see no connection to the demo itself. but anyway, these furry objects (esp in the last scene) are wonderful!

Loved it at the party place. Nice moods. Especially the last scene.

Can't really say why but I totally like this. :) Some parts are a bit messy but they still don't destroy the overall impression. Great music.

Too many jazz musicians in the music. Too much rotating text except for the mandatory tentacle ball (the glenz vector of the 21st century?). Pigie.

I really expected some Abba sample to be shoot in at some point. Felt very 1998, ups for that...

Weird, just watched it on my mac, and was very unimpressed because:

- the particle scenes only had perhaps 5 particles on screen max
- there were patches where the screen faded to black for a few seconds, especially near the end (and this looked like design rather than an obvious bug!)
- having a widescreen demo on a widescreen monitor run in 4:3 with a black border all round sucks, get that dialog finished ;D

so, i cranked up the res to the native 1920x1200 to see how it ran. Lo and behold: MANY particles! New effects in the background! No black periods! Maybe 2fps (Boo!)

Looks like some kind of bug then. I'm on an imac, 2.8 c2d, ati 2600/256mb, 4gb ram if that helps. Give me a shout if you want any testing doing.
added on the 2007-10-19 10:00:34 by psonice psonice
Ah ha! After a quick mess with the config file, I have it:

With the default config, it runs smoothly, but with many effects missing (looks like no alpha of something - eg. when the first logo appears, the background becomes black and you can't see any particles).

With AA enabled (set to 1 or 2 does it), all effects are visible, but performance is crippled (i'm seeing perhaps 5fps at 800x600), but only at certain times (e.g. the particles at the start run smoothly but once the logo appears on the top, it slows down).

Perhaps later I'll try it on windows on this machines, see how it runs.

psonice: it's strange on a mac but you seem to have some kind of strange problems with the video driver (I hope not, really). In your card the framerate must keep above 30 or 40 fps in all the scenes! I will try to test the demo in a machine like yours anyway

Btw, what is the AA misterious setting? Where do you change it?

thumb for tentacle ball, the rest was so so

Merlucin: gl_multisampling 1 in the graphics.spo file. Probably the video driver yes, as its a very new machine. I'll try windows in a bit.

very 1998 indeed, quite a hotchspotch as well.. piggie

Runs flawlessly at 1900x1200 under windows, so it's a bug for sure on the osx side. Driver I guess as nobody else seems to have the issue.

Nice to see what I was missing, anyway.. I quite liked a lot of it. Good stuff.

Some VERY interesting effects in this one.
The "galaxy" effect (= the last effect) is beautiful!
However, it doesn't make it "up there" for some odd reason.
I can't explain it - maybe it's a little too "interesting", if you know what I mean?

Seems beautifull but runs very poorly on my iMac Core2Duo 2,4 Ghz with Radeon HD2600. I have activate the gl_multisampling to 1 and it is so slow
It's faster on my PowerBook G4 1,67 with Radeon 9700.

Any help, merlucin ?

an exe called "run me" that displays a human skull? hmm. anyway, theres something i dont like here. probably the spinning text that clips through the camera. pretty colours - smells a bit weak though.
added on the 2008-01-11 23:34:04 by dila dila
Melaure, I have absolutely no idea about the slowness in your iMac. How did you activate the gl_multisampling to 1 in a mac?
added on the 2008-01-13 10:56:21 by merlucin merlucin
Ahhh I understand, you did it in the script. I have never tested the demo in a card like yours... does the console say something interesing? the engine dumps there information about the environment in which the demo is being run

What's with Spöntz and our "lousy" MacBooks lately? Update your engine, so it runs on our systems already! Surely there must be a way, seems like you just don't care.

Works so well on my iMac - edit the file "graphics.spo" with your native resolution and it'll be full screen. However, it fails to launch the second time. So keep the zip file!

Brilliant demo.
