Hi, I am the gfxcoder of this 'thing' a final version with the metaballs casting shadows will be available soon (less than 5 lines of code, but I have to tune again the filesize), I didn't notice that until somebody said me after the show.

Ah, if you see a black screen, try to kill the sound daemon.

Realtime raytracing and nice synth in 4k for Linux? And even Metaballs? Dang, you're good!

very nice one. to my surprise I had not to reinstall my whole linux to run this ;)
but why does it run in a small 320x240 (approx.) area in my 1280x1024 resolution ?

Hi, I'm the another coder of this prod. There will be a Windows port of the final version, but I don't know if I'll have time to make the port fit in 4k :)

styx: I think it may be a problem with hardware scaling at some resolutions. When I run the intro on my laptop it shows the 320x240 image centered in a small area of the screen, but if I set the resolution of the intro to 640x480 it's fine (and slow). On my other PC, which has a CRT monitor, it runs just fine.

Thumbness for alt.platformage
I already watched the winport, and it rulez, even, if it's a bit slow on a 2.0ghz machine :)

which one is the sounddaemon? Neat startup. Runs as a script and decrunches the exe using some common shell commands. I'm running some KDE stuff.. Which is the sounddaemon?

KDE's sound daemon is artsd. If it's running and your soundcard doesn't do hw mixing the intro won't be able to open the sound device and won't start (same thing with Gnome and esd)
