Nice toy, but there's not much sense making c64-sounds with an emulator :)

A SID tracker for your PC.

Sports a puritan and malicious keyboard controlled interface that needs some practice to get used to.

Nice toy, but there's not much sense making c64-sounds with an emulator

Cross-development? You can export the tunes quite easily to something the 64 can compute.

Ive made a few tunes with goattracker, realy nice app! :)

Tomaes, sure. I've done that too. But the fact is that no emulator ever sounds the same as real sid, so when you make tunes on an emulator, it always sounds a bit different on a real hw.

I did toy around with t3h goat for a while.

it works a bit different from the shizzle if worked with before, but its a nice app ;) thumbsup to t3h devs.

Plus it supports hardsid and catweasel. And several people without c64's have started doing sid tunes as a result of it. So even if there's not much sense in doing it, where's the fun in always making sense?

teel: that goes for almost every "normal" module format -It won't sound 100% the same outside the tracker it's made in. Besides, weren't all SIDs "unique" anyway? :)

teel: Sure, but they won't sound the same on another sidchip either. I actually think emulation might be the easiest way to make tunes that sound good on most sidchips.

it's hard at first, as the learning curve really is a step. but once you got it, you're in business !

GoatTracker really is cool. So far, all the SID tunes I've released have been made in GoatTracker... including the soundtrack to the fr08 invtro that everyone seems to like. ;-)

the best utility for creating SIDs..

Found the concepts of this tracker to be quite difficult since the interface is ancient but it's fun to learn how to be a 1337 tracker.
great for getting your head around rather messy SID making

Just a quick note, here is OSX Port of this, too bad I had to rip all hardware SID support but at least it works sufficiently on 10.4

Feel free to mirror.

Oh no, i switched jobs and no longer own mac :(, that means that the OSX version is no longer supported at all. Feel free to hack with sources included, i will host the package as long as necessary though.

hmm.. if they were going to create a SID tracker for Windows, why not made it a little more user-friendlier? It's not that I mind text interfaces (hell, I'm an IT fundamentalist on PC), but it appears like a missed opportunity to me. Anyway, still a wonderful tool.

Goattracker enabled quite some composers from a different background to finally do SIDs, so all thumbs up! Playroutine is good for demos, too :)

alpha: Check http://sourceforge.net/projects/goattracker2/ and have fun :)

I've been using gt for a couple of years now I think and I must say it is simply amazing, even the older v.1.53 rocks very hard. Thanks cadaver!
