- Tbh, I'm somewhat annoyed by this prod. I really like the platform, and there is clear technical progress compared to both Kaleidoscopico and Hard Fault. But despite all that, it just... doesn't really look good?
The color selection is all over the place, some graphics clash with the background, and at a certain point I was just wondering why certain decisions were made (e.g. what is the silhouette of the kids doing there in front of the tunnel effect? are they your constraints that set you free???)
I really want to like this demo, but, honestly, I just can't. You've made some excellently-designed demos before, so what happened here?? - isokadded on the 2026-04-07 20:28:27

- After letting my thoughts percolate a bit during the trip home from the party, I feel like I really need to write something, so I'll try...
Over the years, I've worked on, I guess you could call them cracks, from console jailbreaks to silly nonsense (e.g. cracking games I bought so I can run them on a new computer as I have long lost access to the email associated with my Steam acct). And, at times, it's been a very isolating experience.
Working for weeks and months on difficult hardware hacking stuff without having any progress to show for, while being barely able to talk to anyone about it. Cooperation being strained due to people wanting to cash out via bug bounties vs people wanting to make sure jailbreaks & homebrew are always viable for end users. And the stress from feeling like I'm the only person who both cares about the disastrous effect of "age-gating" laws, while also having the technical know-how to subvert the remote attestation implementations behind it. So many 'previous-generation' jailbreaking people end up working for the companies whose productsthey once attacked, while being at most worried about the privacy implications of what they are making, but not the control it gives to these companies.
Despite it all, this demo makes me feel like my efforts are not futile, that I am not alone, and that there will be others to pick up the slack once it's time for me to retire.
Thank you. - isokadded on the 2026-04-07 01:36:31

- Emulator broken in 4 different, independent ways. New hardware bugs discovered. Writeup will come "soon".

- I don't quite think it's a 1:1 rip, a few notes are different at least
and re: UT: to be fair it was designed to "feel like mother/earthbound" so it's bound to mimic some stylistic choices as well (incl. many audio samples). plus, toby fox made other work he recycled from himself, including an earlier earthbound fangame. add to that deliberate obscure reference and it's a grand clustserfuck
on the third hand, both "ghost battle" and the first part of the track here are probably what one would end up with if you'd want to write a "whatever people now perceive as what 1920s flappers would dance to" track - isokadded on the 2026-01-26 03:41:04
