Some good ideas there. A bit short and rough around the edges, but has potential!
Thank you! I had to scale back my ambitions a lot due to limited time (was ultimately up animating til 5am, then rendering the day before my train) - I hope to render a more polished post-party version with fixes to the animation jank soon, because it bugs the hell out of me seeing the FK/IK switch pops or the unnatural weight on the dance bit. Still, I think it came out OK all things considered. - isokadded on the 2025-04-27 02:31:55
- demo Atari STe Ankha by Ankha by Fenarinarsa [web]
- I appreciate the technical breakdown in the nfo, the result is impressively clean! 'Ankha' is a classic and this is a very sweet way to honour it.

- sorry, realised self-thumbing is poor etiquette. I'm not sure if this will override it with pig, I can't see the option! will not do so again in future

- I chose to render in Cycles rather than Eevee because I wanted the nice subsurface scattering on the waxy material, that's the main thing that's hard to reproduce realtime I think. The other difficult parts would be finding a way to compress all the animation data and do skinned mesh rendering on the character. She's fairly low poly though, so it would be fun to find out how much of this could port into demo land! The differential growth and fluid effects are too slow for realtime in Geometry Nodes, but I'm sure they could be optimised a lot.
The recording of the erhu would also be difficult to compress. I really like that I can include the physical instrument I play, but it's hard to use in a small demo.
Thanks for watching! I'll upload the Blender file when I get home. - rulezadded on the 2025-04-22 22:27:53
- demo Gameboy Is That a Demo in Your Pocket? by Snorpung
- Wow, I have no earthly idea how you managed to get a texture-mapped cuboid with just 8x8 tiles. And all the particle effects and such too!

- demo Windows Nelostie by CMDG Megacorporation
- Very cool! Runs pretty damn smooth too given all that text it's gotta draw. I guess a text buffer and a pixel buffer are all just bytes in the end. Thanks for releasing the source!

- demo Linux Windows shape of a thought [first demo]
- Thank you!! I'm really excited to part of the demoscene at last.
I've uploaded an alternative Windows build that uses borderless fullscreen, which should hopefully sidestep some swapchain issues on some Windows drivers (and also just generally be nicer to interact with). - isokadded on the 2025-02-19 15:33:02
