• The problem is that sprites fuck up the timing i.e. steals cycles from the CPU in a rather nontrivial way, and you need timing for rasterbars and especially opening of the sideborder, which requires manipulating the VIC at exact cycles.

• p01: Guess you meant "aren't"? I agree, and the reason is that there was no way I could cut any more bytes off it to get enuff space for setting the sprite colors, so I had to go with the default ones.
