- 256b ZX Spectrum RED REDUX by Virtual Vision Group
- A 256b intro with Protracker music :) Probably a first?
"Redux" is a reference to RED SUPREMACY (https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=103873), where you can also listen to the full version of the music (https://youtu.be/DgDRcARbwyY?si=umJtMrbK5lb8fWbr). - isokadded on the 2025-05-04 00:21:33
- demo ZX Spectrum 7-up by Speedway
- It is is a very technically good demo. Unfortunately, the fascination with 4x4 "chunks" (blocky dithered graphics) and the novelty of seeing a video on the Spectrum proved to be short-lived and aren't appreciated by sceners who don't have the context as evidenced from the comments.
For all the people watching this in 2025 and beyond (or any time after 2001 really) - 1998-2000 were the period when "chunks" and videos in Spectrum (TR-DOS) demos were all the rage. It was something new and unusual for the platform users at the time, and made a big impression on the contemporaries (yours truly included). Check out "Binary Love" (https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=1576) and "Power Up" (https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=1907) of the same era that were prominent examples (if not the trend setters). - rulezadded on the 2025-05-03 07:32:42

- Original idea, thumbs up!

- demo Amiga AGA Fire Geisha by Nah-Kolor [web]
- A bit slow but definitely stylish. Party version seems to have glitches (lightmaps go bad for a moment and the whole room goes dark, also the end scroller flickers white), but hey, it's a party version. Thumbs up well deserved!

- demo Amiga AGA Lupus Reditus by Tristar & Red Sector Inc. [web] & Mystic [web]
- Like it! A good demo that blends a story with the effects.

- demo Amiga AGA Skywards by Darkage [web]
- I could forgive AI use for particular images, but the whole demo has a feel of being made by AI, as it doesn't seem to have a soul, idea or style to it. Just compare it to Smokebomb to feel the difference.

- demo Amiga AGA Skywards by Darkage [web]
- A mashup of Amiga-themed AI generated imagery without an idea.

- demo ZX Spectrum Add Mortem by Arise & Joker [web]
- This is great prod!
As for the loading technique, I'm a ZX Spectrum Next enthusiast so I won't throw any stones at this one.
IMHO the I/O situation of the classic Spectrums is so different these days nobody uses real tape anymore even with the real hardware. Thusly, writing a demo that works on the original hardware with divMMC is good enough. I can still run it on my +2.
No worse than demos that only work with TR-DOS in my opinion (BTW re: evilpaul's question, TRD-accepting compos usually limit the size with 636/640KB as that was the natural limit of the TR-DOS disk. But as the .tap format has no metadata or anything that would impose such a limit, you could stream even 100MB if you want).
Again. I am of an opinion that I/O aspect of the platform isn't important. If you want to limit the size, there's a number of other formats (4KB intro, 64KB intro) which you can compete in (granted, 64KB intro is almost unheard of on the ZX Spectrum, but there were other size limited formats like e.g. 16KB). - rulezadded on the 2025-04-20 06:48:10
- 256b ZX Spectrum Roll Me Gently by Joker [web]
- Outstanding visuals! Just from the screenshot it didn't look like a Spectrum prod to me, let alone a 256b intro. Chapeaux bas
