- Note that download URL is same with this. The package has two different releases which are put in one for convenience reasons.

- Works well for me, although I did find it being a bit disorienting.
I hope you put a bit more effort to the UI, my first playtime was more or less a session where I clicked random things and were totally puzzled on what really should be happening next. Some of the things were still amusing enough.
Keep on working. :) - rulezadded on the 2004-08-04 23:34:09
- game Windows Dismount Levels Preview by tAAt [web]
- shadez, I guess it isn't clear enough that this is a preview of a framework for different kinds of minigames in a way - i.e. the current level is just a test level which was built in a few hours night before the deadline. It'll be perfectly possible to make some of the asked things with the editor + scripting API. :)
kbab, ah well, when thought about the concept, of course it's recycling. it helps the environment, you know... :)
Mtl, yes, I agree that the controls stuff is something which needs to be touched as one of the very next things.. for now, it's only the first (test) attempt.
As it says in the readme, this release is mainly for getting feedback, so thanks to everybody. :) Critique is welcome, but only thing I hope to get from negative reactions is some insight in what exactly is wrong (unless you're just convinced that this game just isn't for you personally). - isokadded on the 2004-08-04 23:30:35

- The main audience here is the Dismount games fans, whose amount probably outnumber demoscene. :) There has been tons of requests for different kinds of sequels as well as for possibility to modify the game different ways, which is exactly what I'm now making possible.
For some reason Assembly (or demo parties generally) just seems to spur interest and inspiration to get something done and packaged up, which is the reason why the limited preview version was put up now. Even knowing the fact that the feedback from scene is usually mostly negative anyway. - isokadded on the 2004-08-04 19:20:40

- And BTW, thanks for any feedback - as it is labeled, this is only a preview. The editor & scripting API makes it possible even with the preview build to create different games, and with a bit more stuff to the currently exposed features will make it even more dynamic.

- shadez, FYI, only thing recycled is the ragdoll model and the code loading it - and of course the concept itself, although not even that really.

- Didn't know there would be any creative use for Excel until this... Now I know that even secretaries could have a good time doing their 'work'.

- A_Lee_N, yeah, I blame lack of time. Also the music player is updated with GOSUB from all the effects and so, which means the "music" stays better in shape if it needs only infrequent updates. If the computer is shitty, FPS could be lower when the music wouldn't work very well in that case unless the tempo is slow. And yes, this prod tries to do the timing in at least somewhat sensible way, not in "for a=1 to 100000:next a" style. :)
Optimus, just use OUT to write params to the adlib ports 0x388 and 0x389 - adlib programmign works that way with any language having functionality to write in hw ports. Check out some adlib/sb specs and read the source.. :)

- Ah, and BTW. this is an entry in the BASIC demo compo, not the dynamic demo compo.
