- @Charlie: I think there is an even more fundamental inconsistency to address here:
When the compo rules were unveiled, I was actually surprised to find that they did not require the declaration of AI use. They merely state:
"No AI generated or inspired entries in graphics and music compos. No purely AI content in other compos."
This naturally leads contestants to believe that, as long as they adhere to those rules, they don't have to say anything about their AI use, and thus that the AI declaration section of the submission form is optional.
I suggest that, for clarity and transparency, if you do want to require the declaration of all AI use, then you state so upfront in the competition rules. - isokadded on the 2025-04-26 10:31:42

- @noby: Sure, the demo isn't provocative in the "profound message" kind of sense, but rather in the "we are having fun, screw the haters" kind of sense.
I'm sure the authors laughed their asses off at that misshapen octopus and decided to include it because of rather than in spite of those blatant quirks.
And now they've brought out the popcorn to watch people blinded by AI hate catching the bait. - isokadded on the 2025-04-24 08:17:36

Compiling code is something else, it is a “translation” process without introducing any ingenuity, inventiveness or talent specific to the art of coding.
As a compiler engineer, I beg to differ. ;) - isokadded on the 2025-04-23 16:36:08

- Lovely oldskool vibes! I especially adore the voxelscape at the end. Such beautiful modelling.
And thanks for luring the Joker out of his hiding place. The stakes are piling up. ;) - rulezadded on the 2025-04-23 10:17:48

- Clearly the authors didn't use AI as a substitute for drawing the graphics themselves. They used it as the appropriate tool to achieve the particular style they wanted for the demo, and as a deliberate provocation.
Even if the result isn't particularly interesting, that attitude alone deserves a thumb.
This is the Variform 2 of the AI age. - rulezadded on the 2025-04-22 13:24:58

- Ha, just noticed now that this had been added. My first party release. :)
I don't think I have even seen it since then, as my Amiga with the intro on it was stolen during the prizegiving ceremony on that very party. :(
Oh, the memories... :) - isokadded on the 2025-02-03 19:00:44
