• I was watching and thinking, no, no, no, this is way too oldschool for my liking (even though Piesiu's image is stunning, as usual). But then you showed that digital watch and played around the keyboard design and you are totally forgiven now :)
  
  Have there been many demos made for Timex? I tried searching last year, but could not find anything at all. Is this the first _real_ demo for Times?!

  I do not like this particular demo because it is ugly. However, I do not understand the idea to "add two effects and be golden" either. I strongly believe that "no effects" is usually better than "crappy effects".

• Of course this rules. One of the first beeper demos of the modern era. Anyone can make beeper music today, using Beepola etc. This demo was made pre-Beepola, pre-rebirth of the Beeper scene. This WAS the rebirth of the Beeper scene.

• @TomoAlien, I do appreciate that this is 4 years later, but I think I have what you were asking. The software used to make digital tracks in this demo (Sample Tracker) supports, in addition to 1-bit output, the output to logarithmic 4-bit DACs found on 128K Spectrums. Now, it is a matter of discussion whether it would count as "high quality", but I am guessing it is higher quality:

  Most multicolour demos for classical Spectrum 128K won't work on Pentagon 128K either. The main problem is in different ULA timings and in the presence of slow memory. Pentagon makes life easier, not because it is marginally faster, but because the screen access does not generate additional wait cycles. Fixing this demo for classical Spectrum 128K will be (mostly) possible, but at the cost of pretty much re-writing many timing-sensitive codes.
  
  I am not aware of many classical Russian demos adopted to western Spectrums, but I do know that most important western multicolour demos (e.g. Shock etc) have been hacked to work correctly on Pentagons.

• @Preacher, no, this is intended for an unexpanded Pentagon 128K. Sadly, it won't work on a classical Spectrum 128K. 640K is a standard beta-disc image.

• The title of this demo translates into English as "Paints". Even this early sketch is cool, innovative and inspiring. The demo promises to be a bit cold and technical, however, it offers an insight into the future; shows the way for demos on Spectrum, and the future looks bright and colourful.
