- looks like we created another controversial release ;)
tnx for your comments (very helpful).
> Hommage to Anne Clark?
actually we didn't know of anne clark until we got some comments on the finished track. but i really like her style.
> anyone got the author's contact information?

> it was enjoyable in an otherwise rather horrible compo.
yeh, most wild-releases are still crap (there were a few other nice ones in the compo, though). putting together crap is far too easy with video. but i'm not gonna rely on that for future releases :)
> you can of course try to dodge the obvious and encode the message, but then again why should you?
true, true... at least, everybody understands such a clear message. very few understood the underlying message in out back into (last year's entry).
and with memorize your future, we still tried to dampen a too simple positivism and the clearness of the message by playing everything backwards. imho it makes a different sense when seen that way.
> Quite limited animation as well (100% afterfx?)
i learned to hate it. began thinking about coding something myself.
> but do we really need *another* anti-massmedia "consumerism is bad lol" production?
as long as tv is able to grow even dumber, indeed we do.

- uhm... please don't take it too serious - I definitely made this thing as a "crappy, sick fun-entry" and not to win a compo. I had only three days, starting from scratch - hardly enough time to create anything better. Thus, "it rather looked like some fast compo entry." - indeed, it is ;)
I was actually surprised of the positive resonance it created (made some people laugh at the compo) - but I personally would not vote for anything that's most advanced technique ist linear interpolation ;)
To complete the list of technical features: motion was recorded using a joystick (mapping axes to paths...). But beside using sdl for image blitting and fmod for playing music, there isn't much more.
Cool (and simple) way of recording/syncing animation, anyway *recommendingittootherdemomakers*.
To complete my conclusion:
Feel free to like it, or to dislike it - it's a pure question of personal taste and one's idea of "what a demo should be like / what make's a demo a good demo".
Thank you for your thumbs and the disgusting pictures ;)

- Zone:
you are criticizing 4channel tunes for a lack of simultanous voices...
more likely, you're critizising 4channel tunes for not providing enough visuals.
anyway, i think it is most important to judge everything based on criteria given by whatever you usually prefer to watch/listen to/...
That leaves the question, why are you watching something you are not interested in at all? :)
That doesn't mean that I'm against criticism at all, but please be a little careful about the criteria you apply.
> "she not open her mouth when singing"
check your player. everything was recorded while playbacking (she actually sang while performing the scenes) and resynced afterwards.
> "please, sing in your own language instead of english"
may i quote you:
"and the girl don't sing but just speak on music"
"it miss perhaps color filters"
"if vocals meet music to gives emotions"
"the thing try to be serious but be funny in lots of ways"
...
what is left to say?
ah yes.
i'm really angry that you criticize my work for not understanding it while you did not even try, if you did not get the message yet :)
for example, the "coldness" expressed in the first part is intended. the lack of "beliefe" as well.
> "and it looks she did not believe in what she say."
vs.
> "and as listener, i did never try to understand the lyrics"
......
you are right about camera movement:
since handcamera is a little difficult, i'm working out ways to improve it for later projects, that do not require a full-featured steadycam.
no offense meant :) - isokadded on the 2004-05-01 20:18:44

- necr0nomico: now that was low.
sprocket:
> "A typical lowres cd-rom clip from the mid-90s"
maybe some words concerning the image quality:
I had some kind of a smooth and still sharp-looking elegant look in mind, like expensive automobile-reclame. Anyway, it turned out that a camera that can do that is really expensive stuff. I personally hate technical restrictions like that, but in this case there was simply no way of improving image quality any further without owning a better camera (i used a 0815 digital camcorder).
anyway, i don't think that this is what it is all about :)
mjz:
>"What are the lyrics supposed to mean by the way?"
paniq's comment covers this question quite good. the concept of this film is.. hmm.. i'd say something like a taoistic approach to the principles of life :)
the lyrics (chapter 1-3) are to be understood as a whole, and they do not make much sense when seperated.
