- Thank you for the praise, appreciation and criticism.
Some wonder where the 3D data of the faces (heads) come from. The answer is from the Face ID of my iPhone. So it is my face and therefore the graphics are literally from me as mentioned in the scrolltext. The 3D face mesh data is accessed via the ARFaceGeometry class. Vertices and connecting lines can be retrieved. Displaying the face as wireframe on the Amiga doesn't look so good. That's why I decided to draw dots (1220 per frame, by the way).
Now unfortunately this data is not ordered. For example, there is no information about which vertices belong to an eye. Therefore I had to write a small macOS tool (Face Mesh Preview). With this tool I can also export the animation frames (see 3dblink, 3dgo, 3dlface and 3duface in the source code). I split the face into an upper (3duface) and lower area (3dlface and 3dgo respectively), because the upper area remains practically unchanged when speaking and this saves data. By the way, in the animation (3dgo) I say "go" and not at all "o", "k". In the source code there are still some hints to a "tschak" animation. Visually, it hardly differs from "go", so I finally decided not to use it. This also saves data and memory.
Lord could finish the music (I think it's brilliant) only on Thursday before the Evoke demoparty. Because of a misunderstanding it is too short. So I had to remove/deactivate the final animation (called Falling). But in the source code everything is still there and you could activate it very easily (search for "falling" or "rem").
One more word about the flitches. These are those flashing patches. I was inspired by the Astrophage demo from Logicoma. I find them somehow great. Originally I wanted to copy them one-to-one. But that was tedious and in the end I generated them.
And finally, the name of the intro. The working title was "Go". But since the face is hardly distinguishable from a whole head, the name "Talking Head" and finally "Talking Heads" was created, since two are displayed at the same time.
Thanks again and I hope to see you next time. - rulezadded on the 2022-08-09 12:04:46
