The issue is that some Europeans (especially in Austria and Germany) are very seriously misinformed about the situation in Russia, and because of that they sympathize with both Putin and the ideas of a “strong chancellor,” a great empire, and so on.
  
  As someone who lives in such an "empire", let me tell you this: when people sincerely start dreaming about a strong chancellor and a great empire, sooner or later they end up with a collar around their neck, poverty, and war.
