- oh and dont think that I dont like demos or demoscene, I do appriciate it more than ever. The point was just that cheesy 3d-flyby master Navis should maybe rethink his own shit before talking about whats viewable to an outside demoscene audience =)

- smash: well demos might be difficult to compare to simularities in the outside world I choose to compare it to music-videos, comercials and to some extent contemporary computer-generated art and in that case very very few demos can stand the test of time and todays demos feels so obsolete or mediocre compared to the outside world. Especially, as someone here mentioned earlier, the fact that its mostly just 3dflybyes and coder-skill showoffs and lacks concept.
But not all demos ofcource, there are a few superb exeptions that comes to my mind that could be shown to outsiders without having to explain the point or technical achivements/limitations etc. like fairplay to the queen, te-2rb, deepness in the sky, blunderbuss... yeah you get where in going.
But the real point of this, Navis: was that it isnt your personal opinion on the forum that disturbs me but your thought of yourself as some style-dictator that decides whats up to demoscene standards and what is considered elite/mediocre when you are just an obsolete nobody in a shrinking underground internet comunity that no-longer manages to attract any new blood or serious interest in it. That as, get back into the context.
oh, and alot of trolling ontop of it. =) - isokadded on the 2011-05-10 12:49:16

- ah, a good post from kb!
so imagine any outsider going through the top10 prods on pouet while you are trying to defend them by explaining the "point" of them.
Would be pretty embarassing wouldnt it? so please, <insert some obvious oh so elite pouet-dwellers here>. Get of your high horses when commenting this shit and understand that all the technical achivements in the world cant hide the fact that compared to the outside world we are all are just a bunch of narcissistic obsolete nobodys so lets just get pissdrunk and make demos or fuck the fuck off. - isokadded on the 2011-05-10 12:29:07

- honestly navis I dont even have a clue who you are or what you ahve done to consider yourself the speaker of modern demoscene and the voice of reason. Point is, we dont care what you think because we do demos because its fun to make them. If you dissagree on all of my points why dont you show me some demosceners or demos thats in the top notch of the latest design in mainstream culture or demoscene musicians that are toping charts etc. And could you please explain why the demoscene is shrinking because its not that there are fewer people using computers to make art today than in the late 90s. or would this come in conflict with your selfview as being some sort of style-dictator in a small obsolete underground comunity on teh internet?

- I really love theese uber elite democoders in here who, for some reason, think their demos/intros or even 4ks please a "wide outside audience".
Nothing against your prods, (as i am a demoscener) but seriously dont get too cocky here and do please face the fact: Your prods please a rather small and very underground comunity that havnt attracted any serious amounts of "new blood" in over a decade now (why is that? oh. wait...) and compared to what happens in the real world in means of design and concept in stuff that could be compared to demos as comercials or musicvideos or just pure designer/art showoffs, demoscene is seriously lacking behind.
You say that watching such an intro as this one and having to explain "the point of it" to an outsider is a must but then wtf isnt any top notch 64 or 4k (or even demo)? If you dont explain that its made in 4k they wouldnt even give it the faintest sign of respect and still 9 out of 10 wouldnt even understand the difference, or belive you for that matter.
I recently stumbled upon a exhibition of realtime computer-generated contemporary art made by a few of the worlds greatest designers on that field in a museeum in New York and NONE of them had ever ever heard of the demoscene... But you didnt need to explain the point of their work to any "outside" viewer and still ppl payed serious money to come and watch the exhibition. Any recent demoscene prod would have looked really stupid longside theese kind of works but a few "newschool" demos from the late 90s would have done alot better. My point? There was a time when the demoscene was "a jour" with what happend outside the scene. thoose days are long gone and whats left is the fun of boozing and making demos together. And just comparing your work with recent game-engines etc wount help you so NIGGAHPLEAZEARGH lookmom I wrote a paper on poeut today ^__^!! - isokadded on the 2011-05-09 23:49:11
