• Adok, we’re not talking about terminology here - we’re talking about your ideas and about facts. The issue is not what people call Putin. The issue is that some Europeans (especially in Austria and Germany) are very seriously misinformed about the situation in Russia, and because of that they sympathize with both Putin and the ideas of a “strong chancellor,” a great empire, and so on.
  
  As someone who lives in such an "empire", let me tell you this: when people sincerely start dreaming about a strong chancellor and a great empire, sooner or later they end up with a collar around their neck, poverty, and war.
  
  But first there will be parades and lots of patriotism, yes. Only later will they shut off your internet and insert a control probe up your ass.

  Believe me, you don’t want this :) I’m telling you as someone who lives in a country that has been ruled by a "strong chancellor" for 25 years - one who declared all the liberal values you’re talking about. But now, in my country, any dissent is persecuted. People are sentenced to 10–20 years in prison for thought crimes - literally for comments online. Any sexual minorities are outlawed. And at first, most people even liked it.
  
  But now not only are “gay parades” banned - any protests are forbidden. Not getting paid your salary? Want to protest? You’ll get a prison sentence. And now they simply shut off the internet. And this doesn’t please anyone anymore. But we have a “strong chancellor,” and he decides what people are allowed to do and what they are not.
  
  And you know, our “strong chancellor” also wants to see a great Empire that would include both Russia and Europe. But you’ll be seriously shocked if that happens.
