- demo ZX Enhanced STNICCC 2000 ZX Next
- Upvoting for the released sources and the very fact of doing it on the Next.

- demo ZX Enhanced Touching the Sun by Virtual Vision Group
- Some background info: we did not want to create a "wannabe Amiga demo" but work out the Next's own, specific style, rooted in its ZX Spectrum heritage. Hence we're using 256x192 maximum (which is also much easier to handle on a 8-bit processor!) and a limited palette of 21 colors (placing it strategically so colors can be added/subtracted to without caring of the saturation).
The demo also pushes the hw quite a bit. No known to us ZX Next emulator atm can show it properly :) - isokadded on the 2025-11-02 21:03:04

- demo Gameboy Advance counting clouds by Brainwave
- I attended Assembly 2003 but I didn't remember the demo. Having watched it now, I wonder why it was ranked so low. Doesn't deserve the last place! There might be some questionable colors but overall it looks decent and stylish, definitely prefer it to, say, evol (7th place in the same compo).

- demo Amiga AGA Dead Ahead by Flex & Ephidrena
- Wow, what a demo. Very smooth, but I wonder how much memory it requires. I notice at least two "infinite bobs" effects in this (chains and coins), might be the first time this idea is applied to a 3D scene! (a pity, I thought I'd be the first one haha). Storing something like 60 frames in both color and depth ain't gonna be cheap.

- demo Amiga AGA Mainland by V-Nom
- Has a nice mid-1990s Amiga feel (except back then it would run on a 68030 ;) ). Still, thumbs up!

- demo ZX Spectrum untitled by Inward [web] & CyberPunks Unity [web]
- Very touching, and unusual. I admit this is not my style, or at least used not to be, but the older I get the more I appreciate "slow" demos like this one. And it is pretty good technically too.
Watch it on a 50Hz screen (you can have that on Windows as well). - rulezadded on the 2025-09-06 06:31:03
