- demo Linux Windows MacOSX Intel Melodice by Damage
- Alright, I’ve been hearing that one person wants to run “Melodice” without full-screen, someone else wants a different window size, and yet another friend wants to see the FPS counter. So - one last time (I hope, because I really want to move on!) - I dug the project back out and made a “Coder’s Cut” release. It comes with an external config file:
Code:config/settings.py
There you can toggle dev-mode (with scrolling, pause, etc.), pop up a GUI for filters, capture the output to a file, switch full-screen on/off, show a frame-rate meter, enable video sync, cap the frame rate, or set any window size you like.
This isn’t pure altruism ;-) - with this “one weird trick” I’ll save myself pain in later projects: if something misbehaves on the compo machine, instead of doing a new build I can just tweak the settings file in any text editor and instantly test multiple variants.
Disclaimer: It’s not a secret build, but I’m not planning to upload it to scene.org either. It’s a coder’s version for anyone who’s interested. I haven’t tested every possible combo of settings; some definitely clash and a few may lead to odd behavior. You use it at your own risk - worst case, the demo just won’t start or will look awful. If anything major breaks, let me know; it’s probably a tiny fix and I can still patch it.
Have fun!
As usual, I’ve got Linux, macOS, and Windows builds here:

- Thanks again for all the votes and kind words - I’m really glad you enjoyed it. I’ll do my best not to stop here!
A Linux version is now available, and fullscreen should work properly as well - you can grab the latest builds for all platforms here:
https://files.scene.org/browse/parties/2025/revision25/pc-demo/
There’s also a YouTube capture online now:

So feel free to download or just watch it online.

For those who are curious: It ran on my Linux (Ubuntu 22.04 LTS) machine with Lutris / using Wine (fullscreen). Hardware: Intel Xeon / 8 GB / Nvidia Geforce GTX 960. Couldn't figure out any flaws but I am probably not as experienced as the other 99 % here :-) Thanks, Damage. (I am 1974).
THank you!
You can run this natively on Linux. Unfortunately, I can't ask for builds for Linux and macOS to be uploaded to scene.org. They can be temporarily downloaded from my Google Drive. - isokadded on the 2023-09-04 18:26:42

Fellow 1976-er here. :) Totally LIDAR-rific, with a bit but not too much nostalgia thrown in (the nixie tube year counter was a nice touch). The train part reminded me of ASD's Rupture a bit. The head credits were pretty badass.
And dammit, stop thumbing up your own stuff! :) You can be proud of your work, but it still comes off a little vain.
Thank you for your words of appreciation. :-)
I actually thumbed up myself when I wrote the first comment, but it turns out that simply because Pouet set the reaction for me by default. I'm not very active here and I don't really understand how it works yet. Sorry... - isokadded on the 2023-09-04 17:35:57

PEBKAC here, turns out something went wrong with unpacking and some of the shaders were 0 bytes for some reason; redeployed, everything works fine now.
It certainly fixes a lot of the "why isn't stuff moving!" aesthetic issues that I had on the first run; I'm still not 100% sold on it cos I can't decide whether there's a theme here (and I don't think there is) or if it's just a mess, but there's clearly some effort put in there.
Thank you for the information. Good thing it works though. :-)
As I wrote, there is a theme, but not one, but several. In a sense, a little mess. In this comment, at the end, I explained where it came from. - isokadded on the 2023-09-04 17:32:10
