• and the idealization of trockij is absolutely unfounded. surely he has shown himself as a deep analyst and great thinker in the 30s and 40s. and although he was always a great theoretician and rhetoric, he was blinded by ideology and did not step aside from hate and cruelty already in the first revolution and civil war years. through my history studies i've been for example confrontated with documents on trockij's commands during the war against poland in the early 20s, and they speak a clear language against him being an ideal fighter for justice and humanity.

• the ussr wasnt an ideal state at all already in the beginning. just for one example, lenin said to dream about a state where a female cook (kucharka) could become head of state. at the same time he was a son of noble land-owners who could afford all his political preparations and years of swiss exile mainly because of that. and if you look through the "old bolsheviks" you don't exactly find workers and peasants in the higher hierarchy ranks, rather nobles and "raznochincy"/bourgeois. you can see it when you observe the whole classical communist movement - you see the real proletariat only on the basis, but nealry nowhere on the higher ranks, in the east as well as in the west. exceptions were there, but were either liquidated (like kirov, or thälmann, who was indeed indirectly liquidated by stalin who consciously didn't take the chance to free him from nazi prison after 1939) or totally corrupted by the stalinist charisma of power (like dimitroff, gottwald, pieck, togliatti and other lagre parts of the komintern hierarchy who were rooted into the proletariat). there goes a part of the myth of the communist state where everyone can achieve the same.
  
  well, actually i live in a country where at least one lenin's "dream" came true. gerhard schröder comes out of the proletariat, his mother was a housewife who had to work as cleaning woman after the husband fell in the war, and schröder could finance his studies through students' state funds. and blah blah... i'm not advertizing for a politician here by no means, just showing you that the world is very twisted and not black and red... ;)

• perhaps "ripoff" is not fitting, sorry. what i rather feel about it is, why doing it in 64k if the same technique-and-design-theme was done far more skillfully in 4k?
