- The interface is quite ugly. The ASCIIs kick ass, as do the hi-rez works from viruz666.

- Nice stuff. Sadly the music is screwed up (jumps and skips) even without any other dsound application running...

- I love the music, but the 5+MB for the interface are kinda silly. Still rules.

- demo Amiga AGA Heart Core by Illi Recentes ImperatoreS
- dr_doom:
I'm sorry for you being disappointed.
Regarding the big screen quality of the Amiga competitions I'd like to point out that there was no easy alternative to doing SVHS recordings. As you know the Amiga compo required quite a few different configurations/system. It is impossible to hold such a compo realtime without causing huge delays (which the audience wouldn't like). We have to pre-record it, and up until now SVHS was the only afforable solution.
For next year we will try to switch to digital recording equipment, this is on top of our list.
Btw, another problem regarding the Amiga compos is the lack of people willing to help out. Prior to BP we were searching for compo organizers for the Amiga compo without any luck. TB, who did the amiga compos, was totally overworked with other things.
Regarding PPC and Pegasos: We are open for discussion. But please keep in mind that we had *3* entries in last years Amiga compo and were already thinking about dropping the Amiga compos - in that situation it would have been a really weird idea to split this into 3 competitions.
And even now as the Amiga scene has proved its alive and kicking, this is no easy decision. Where should we put Pegasos entries? Into the real wild compo? Probably other people will be pissed again then. Same goes for PPC.
Regarding the reward: Your biggest reward should be that the audioence loves your production.
As said, we are open for constructive discussion on this topic. - rulezadded on the 2004-04-21 01:34:53

Quoting without context isn't nice.
The whole sentence was:
"1.) The pouet trolls that did not even attend breakpoint should shut the fuck up. If you don't even visit one of the most important demo partys, you are not part of the scene and should not comment at all. Go away. :)"
Yes, maybe this was a bit harsh. It wasn't my intention to bash people who were unable to attend breakpoint.
Look at this thread to see stuff like "jury at breakpoint sucked", "this was voted by drunk germans" etc. Obviously people who don't have the most basic clues about voting at demo parties and especially Breakpoint.
Anyway, let me apologize and rephrase:
If you didn't even attend Breakpoint, then stop acting like you have some deep inside knowledge on how/why this demo ranked #1. Get your facts straight before posting bullshit and throwing mud at the party, its organizers and its visitors.
But oh well, whatever I say, some ppl will be trolling anyway, so I'll just stop. - isokadded on the 2004-04-17 22:28:05

And you know that how?
Only 40% of breakpoint visitors were german speaking. If you are right it would mean that every german speaking person voted it #1 and everyone else did not vote at all or something along that lines.
"Face it", neither you nor me knows who voted for what.

Preselection does not help against low entry quality.
And I highly doubt there is any bigger meaning behind all this. Last year the Amiga compo didn't have any killer releases while the PC demo compo had, this year it was the other way round. And maybe next year the C64 or whatever platform will kick some serious butt. For me that's perfectly fine.
Some people really are much too fanatic about all this. - isokadded on the 2004-04-17 20:33:15
