- 4k procedural graphics Windows Dreamtime Return by Prismbeings
- I've updated the zip. It contains a new version of the executables that fixes a minor visual glitch (that I bet any of you hadn't even noticed, but it bugged me…), and also fixes the 4K version which had a texture alignment issue that I missed because I couldn't even run it properly earlier. The archive finally now contains a 4K version of the image output as well. :)
In addition made this "wallpaper pack" version which includes only the above images, but also a special version of the 4K image that I color graded separately in other tools, just for fun, to make it even more appealing for wallpaper use. Get it here: https://prismbeings.com/files/public/dreamtime_return_wallpaper_pack.zip

- demo MS-Dos Amazing Facts About Bunnies by Bun²
- shame about the graphical glitches and a slightly inconsistent quality of the pixel graphics, doesn't ruin the experience but i think it does detract from the impression as a whole a bit
great job nevertheless, fun concept and glad you got it out in the end :)

- demo Windows Umbra by Bitbendaz
- Industrial is not my kind of thing, so there's only so much appreciation I'm able to have, but just purely viscerally in terms of visuals there's a lot to like here. The look of the square tunnel in the beginning and the camerawork associated with it is just fantastic, as are the red blood cells towards the end of the demo. Other scenes involving the more detailed 3D models—the parts that are notoriously the most difficult to get right—suffer in comparison though, but the social agreement in the scene seems to be to forgive such sins. Kudos for delivering on a consistent concept in the very least.

- demo Windows Sulcus by Bitbendaz
- I have to echo Gargaj here, in particular the non-synchronized—and also otherwise jittery and awkward —dancing really irked me to no end. That's just one thing though, there's also a dozen other things that don't sit well together with the rest, and a lot of them really stick out when rendered at crisp HD resolutions, like the greetings texts flying in the face of the camera and the general strange jittering at that part.
Effort is one thing, and while I think it can be commendable, I don't think it's necessarily so. To me much more important is to choose the actual good parts for your demo even if that means ultimately having less content. Otherwise it's just a sign of bad art direction, or you not being able to separate the grains from the chaff, which cheapens the demo as a whole. The good work and attention to details like the look of the light rays and the rain drop overlay effect are laid to waste via clipping objects, dull camerawork, almost every cut fading out to black, very stiff and mechanical editing (the aforementioned rain drop effect appearing on cue with the word "rain" in the vocals), over-saturated ridiculously contrasty color work, and just a general feel of phoning in the concept.
There is effort, but that alone only goes so far. I think Gargaj again hits the nail on the head regarding that, no matter how uncomfortable the truth may be. - isokadded on the 2022-04-18 22:33:04

- i don't keep it a secret that i don't hold putting music in 256b intros a very good idea, because it almost invariably just feels like an afterthought that can even detract from an otherwise more pleasant experience
this blows them all out of the water and finally makes it feel like a relevant idea. in fact not only that but it also beats out most 1k intros as well

- demo Windows JavaScript Let This Darkness Be by slay bells
- This is an incredible development over "Luna", I'm truly in awe a bit. Everything comes together beautifully on all levels at once, and nothing feels off or out of place. I adore the overall aesthetic, reminiscent of 1980s 4AD album cover masterpieces, with the milky black background and a strong serif font, all imbued in magic that makes the whole impeccably organic, almost alive. This all complements the choice of poetry perfectly of course, which I'm going to be reflecting on many many times to come. The audio is of course equally well married together with the rest; it's just overall a delight to hear music produced like this in a demo still in 2022.
