• Depressing as fuck, not because of the content but on a more of a meta level. I mean I'd be depressed if I ever ended up making this. So I guess that means it worked in the end? Also ultimately what Gargaj said, which also I think works in favor of it. I'm so conflicted but... thumb, I guess?

• Yeah I think this ended up being my favorite from the compo. The animation and synchronization on the strings is so damn on point. The soundtrack is wonderfully out of the norm. Can always count on Zden's taste.

• Also trying to run this, it managed to spectacularly crash my entire desktop, graphics driver and SSH client(?). Possibly ran out of memory but I think I had like 3 gigs of free physical at the time.

• Man, I really don't know about this one... The cityscape is spectacular, and dropped my jaw during the compo. What followed was the usual cocoon-fest that left me significantly colder. The landscape looks just ugly, and doesn't have any kind of scale. They brown fractal-ish blob with the red spheres looks excellent thanks to GI, but as far as the other "effects" are concerned I wasn't very excited. This indeed suffers quite a bit from the fact that the soundtrack was changed at the last minute. I'd be very interested to see a director's cut of how this was originally supposed to be. I'm still just left hoping this demo would be just set among the visuals of that city...

• comankh: uh, it's not exactly feasible to implement more efficient solutions into 4 kilobytes. Not that this is brute force anyway, that would imply some kind of naive path tracer which this certainly isn't. I don't know how this works exactly, but I'm sure it's a bag of clever but quite crude approximations that also rely on visual trickery to get the impression right (and with that said I'd be interested in hearing about the tech behind this :)).

  I love GITS too. This is technically awful, but awesome as a time capsule, which warrants the thumb.
