- imbusy: instancing is shader model 3.0+ cards only (ok, or some ati ps2.0 cards with extension hacks). this one uses pretty straightforward shader instancing (cram a bunch of transform matrices into constant memory and have a per-vertex index telling which matrix to use). we get 112 cubes/batch, so it's about ~1100 batches when drawing ~60k cubes with shadows. not optimal, but we didn't want to require ps3.0 for this.
astronautstebo: okkie submitted rob is jarig as debris 2, not us. he kindly told us before the compo though :) - isokadded on the 2007-08-12 20:55:52
- demo Windows fr-059: momentum by Farbrausch [web]
- really unfinished (compiled it while the first entry in the compo was running, put it on a usb memory stick, ran up to the organizers, copied the exes over, then ran down again to test whether it ran... oops :). final is already in the works :)

- use normal texture quality if you have <1gb ram. also use a low resolution if you have a slow graphics card :)

- demo Windows Media Error by Fairlight [web] & Carillon & Cyberiad [web] & orange
- coherence it's not about everything looking the same. it's the difference between 10 minutes of random video snippets from an archive and a short film, the difference between a band playing and five solo performers standing on the same stage all trying to one-up each other. and the latter is exactly what this demo feels like for me.

- wild Animation/Video Realtime Demo Wannabe by Maxon [web]
- great demo - though the fun thing is i'm pretty certain that most (if not all) of this is possible with nearly the same quality in realtime :). but hats off nonetheless!

- demo Windows Break dance not hearts by TimeScratchers [web]
- this was fun for about 30 seconds and just got immensely annoying afterwards. i don't have anything against quick+fun releases, but this went on and on and ON with the same effect over and over again (just different textures). if you only have enough material for 30 seconds, then make a 30 seconds demo, ffs.

- demo Windows The Chasm by Division
- i remember thinking "this would've been better with different music". the music isn't bad, but it didn't go that well with the visuals, which were pretty nice. piggy.

- invitation Windows The Sky is the Limit by Brainstorm [web] & Traction [web]
- fun. i enjoyed this. and it's short, which in my opinion is a greatly underestimated quality for demos :)

- demo Windows The Inner Flame by Adapt [web]
- good and certainly unexpected :)
liked the effects, mood and flow. minor quibbles: font (and the unnecessary scene poetry displayed with it :) and most scenes were shown a tad too long. but still, nice demo. - rulezadded on the 2007-08-05 04:46:13
- demo XBOX 360 evoid droid by Excess [web] & Portal Process
- nice stuff. left a good first impression, but felt kinda thrown together in places and doesn't really manage to stand out in my memory after the compo (admittedly, pretty hard in a compo with this much quality entries). so piggy.
