- demo Wild Introducing the iLisa by Carnegie Mellon Computer Club [web]
- All the visuals are generated from a mostly stock Lisa 2 with 1MB of RAM. The audio is generated by a sound card we designed that roughly approximates a Sound Blaster Pro 2 (Yamaha OPL3 + PCM DAC). The sound card plugs into the Lisa's add-in bus and is controlled completely by the Lisa. It does have RAM for storing samples, but the samples are in our demo data and are loaded into RAM by the Lisa's CPU. It was entered as a wild because this year asm had a very strict list of platforms that could be entered as oldschool (C64, Amiga 500, Amstrad CPC, ZX, etc.) with very specific requirements. The Lisa is definitely an oldschool machine, but since we're the only ones crazy enough to write demos for it, it didn't make the list of platforms... As for the release package at scene.org, you have to get those files onto the Lisa/emulator's hard disk somehow. We'll be releasing floppy images when we can figure out how to produce them - our current solution for loading the larger of the 2 .obj files involves some code we wrote manually stuffing the data into the CF card that our IDEfile (ProFile replacement designed by a guy from Germany) uses as a hard drive. I'll admit that this isn't a stunning demo with 3D effects and tons of color, etc. but I'll also assure you that writing a demo for a Lisa is not an easy task.
