- demo Commodore PET PETpeeve by Rabenauge [web] & Plush [web] & Crest
- This looks fantastic! I havent tried it yet, my original PET is an 8k 1978 2001 model, so I do not think this will work because I think this uses the 6545 CRTC chip on the later PET 4032 model. Its is worth mentioning this here.
Advanced gfx is also possible on the old 2001, but more of a challenge, it has slow video ram that causes snow if you access the screen at the wrong time, and you do not have the flexible 6545, just TTL. For a long time I wanted to make such a demo, chasing the beam and switching chars for 320x200 plotting, but now it has been done! - rulezadded on the 2025-10-09 13:17:55

- 8k game Linux Windows Commodore 64 ZX Spectrum VIC 20 C16/116/plus4 ZX-81 Android Commodore PET SCONNEX
- SCONNEX is a version of the famous 4-in-a-line game, written to work on almost any computer. It can compile to work as an SDL2 app (PC or Android etc), or a zx81, Spectrum, C64, C16, Vic20, Pet, app, or as a C99 terminal program. It is open source, released under GPL3 licence.
The 8 bit versions are about 8k, the SDL version 20k, the c99 version 10k, the Android version 1mb!

You can play any board size from 4x4 upto 12x12. You can use the program in two player mode for human v human games, or to set up a position for the computer to analyse.
Source, and scripts for building with VBCC (6502) and Z88DK (z80) included.
It is still a "Work in progress", I am still getting to grips with VBCC and z88dk. The search is a simple AlphaBeta tree I have published as a "sample" before, at some stage I will add sorting, iterative deepening, etc. As is its like the old chess programs where you choose search depth levels 1 to N.
Even so it plays quite well, even on a 1mhz 6502.
(BTW My first attempt at this program was published as a type in in PCW magazine Jan 1983!)
Anyway, more later, enjoy! - isokadded on the 2025-07-17 23:34:03

- 1k ZX-81 Wall-run
- WALL-RUN is for the ZX80/ZX81, (1k or 2k+), and is a simple open source machine code game.
The zip file has the source code, "zwall.asm" and 4 executables:
ZX81: zwall1k.p and zwall2k.p
ZX80: zwall1k.o and zwall2k.o
Use the keys "WADX" (W=up,X=down,A=Left,D=Right) to control your wall and trap the computer opponent. When you do, you progress to the next level. You have to trap the computer twice on level 2, 3 times on 3, etc.
Collect bonuses ($) for points, they score more on higher levels.
The level number (1-9) is shown on the top bar.
The 2k+ version has a bigger screen, score/high score and title screen.
Note that the souce code can conditionally compile the same code to ZX80 or ZX81, 1k or 2k+. This code demonstrates how you can write programs that work on both systems.
Is this the first pouet prod for the zx80? - isokadded on the 2025-06-15 11:21:55
