awesome pico prod! Absolutely amazing what you managed to achieve; the visuals look impossibly great, the audio is fitting, and it's even with source! Added to the list of pico prods.
Really appreciate this, thanks! - isokadded on the 2023-09-28 17:03:30

are there any other sim demos? lol. coool
Not that I'm aware of (same goes for any other type of smart card tbh).
This is just unexplored territory. - isokadded on the 2023-08-30 00:18:27

- The IC hidden under those 'big' contacts is like a grain of sand haha.

- Yeah, the demo itself is lame, and I wasn't sure if I should release until the end. Eventually I decided that it's hard to do anything reasonable with 15x11 characters in a non-monospaced font (didn't want to make people root to see the demo), in a strange character encoding (not ASCII) from 3GPP TS 23.038. So I just submitted.
It took 90% of the time to figure out how to do this in the first place, so I left too little time to actually think of effects and had to do some all-nighters before the party started xD.
I think the worst part was the frame rate, it basically looked like a slide show in most parts, which made any longer effect look bad. I knew what had to be done to fix this, but the card just didn't let me do that... - isokadded on the 2023-08-29 20:14:01

i... sorry what?
(also, how do you even get code loaded and signed on such a card? without lawyers from 3GPP hunting you down, that is)
You need the KIc and KID keys. The easiest way is just to buy a card that is bundled with the key material. I bought mine from Sysmocom (sysmoISIM-SJA2). The actual flashing is a true pain if you need to do it on a real SIM card. It's much more tricky than just installing something on a plain smart card.
Otherwise, you can use an emulator (like the one I made: https://github.com/tomasz-lisowski/swsim) and forward messages to and from the phone using something like SIMtrace2.
Using the emulator would get you a decent framerate, unlike what I had to deal with on real hardware.
P.S. I hoped this would be surprising, so I'm really enjoying all the mild confusion/shock here haha. - isokadded on the 2023-08-29 04:46:27

- Really enjoyed this one. Reminded me a bit of pieces composed by Debussy.
