- 4k MS-Dos Chrome 2 by Abaddon [web]
- At the time, this was the best 4k I'd ever seen. I showed it to everyone when explaining what 4k intros were. Ray tracing was the coolest thing, and I tried writing my own ray tracer as well. Though as a 13 year old, the math was quite a bit over my head :-)

- Assembly 95 was my first demo party, and the PC 4k intros were among the highlights. I found ray tracing in general very cool, and this my first introduction to real time ray tracing. The fact it could be done so quickly and in such small code space blew my mind. Thanks!

- wild Wild watch out by Pasi Toska
- making this prod was a ton of fun! overall, took about three weeks of work in the evenings.
the first step in the journey was to get data to the watch. back in the day, the upload worked by flashing a CRT monitor with software that only ran on win95. LCD monitors and post XP windows versions simply don't work. I ended up reverse engineering the communication protocol framing and building some external hardware to blink an LED with proper timing in order to transmit data. luckily I found old third party software which could generate the communication protocol bitstreams, so I didn't need to do that.
a lot of the ROM routines of the watch were already reverse engineered in 90s, but some critical stuff was lacking regarding the EEPROM handling. to figure those out, I dumped parts of the ROM onto the LCD of the watch, and typed the bytes into a disassembler. i've never felt as much like a hacker.
all that said, as a demo the end result isn't that spectacular. i'm very surprised and a bit ashamed that this won instead of Chrome Revenge. - isokadded on the 2020-10-18 20:57:22
- 1k MS-Dos Chrome Revenge by Abaddon [web]
- This is quite likely the best DOS 1k I've seen. Definitely should have been the winner of the 1k compo.
Even in the real wild compo, this should have won. My entry was utter garbage compared to this. - rulezadded on the 2020-10-18 14:35:07
