  That would involve an entire rewrite of the PlaySID library, which was authored by Il Scuro and PHS and that is way beyond my abilities.

And then i asked myself, why the mouse can't be used, to select the songs here, instead of using the cursor-keys for this? Could have been utilized and would be more practical here.   If you use 1.3 it won't work, because the PlaySID library needs Kickstart 2.0+. Are you using an emulator, such as FS-UAE?
