• postprocessing is nice, but i'm somewhat ambivalent on the rest. music wasn't my cup of tea and it's chock full of 80s/retro references which is pretty cheap at the best of times and completely overdone at the moment (especially in this particular democompo). piggy.

• not bad, but the inside humor does a pretty thorough job of destroying the mood. i'll give it a piggy and see what you'll come up with next :)

• couldn't care less about the lyrics (thought the music was annoying though, and i wonder why tbl got so much flak for using veronica maggio lyrics in suicide barbie while apparently nobody cares about this demo having ripped vocal samples). the visuals aren't bad, but pretty unremarkable (read: i couldn't remember any details after the compo was over). i do remember the greetings part though, which was far too long, far too slow and so uneventful i really don't see the point of including it at all. piggie overall.

• content was much more of a joke than the actual jokes in the demo, and those sucked badly.

• smash: a) yes, that's the main trick actually (not the shader instancing thing, that's indeed standard, i just responded to imbusys comment because "real" instancing is not an option with the hw we're targeting) and b) yes, of course. the slowdowns you're experiencing happen everywhere and have nothing to do with the cube stuff whatsoever - it's a fuckup with the background images, actually :)
